Song Review:: Baekho (NU'EST) (feat. Jessi): Nutty Nutty

...I know they're disbanded, but I refuse to not attach his group to him. Also, really? Two minutes? That's barely long enough to cook a hot pocket. 

Nutty Nutty is a really good dancing song. I like the latin elements to it, as well as the driving, pulsing beat. This song doesn't give you a chance to breathe, not that it's long enough for a pause. A slowdown wouldn't have enough time to recover, so I'm grateful that it doesn't try. 

I think this sounds more like a Jessi song featuring Baekho, than a Baekho song featuring Jessi. And I know that both of them have incredible voices, but I also don't think that this song pretends to let their vocals shine, nor do I think that it's supposed to. This is not a song you sing to have your vocals praised. 

Waterbomb is PG-13 and above for a reason. I'm more surprised by this combination of artists than I am by the choreography and the amount of wet skin on display, because it's not like both of them aren't known for being subtle and demure. This is all exactly as I'd expect. But it's so short...

I'm including the actual audio because personally, the audio quality in the video is sub-par.

Halloween Spookening: 2024 Edition

 I love Halloween. It's been my favorite holiday for literally my entire life. I have loved Halloween longer than Sangyeon of The Boyz has been alive, barely because my first Halloween was a couple of days before he was born, but according to my mother, even at the age of not-quite one years old, I have loved it. She dressed me up as a San Francisco 49ers cheerleader. I have pictures.  One of the most important things, then, is finding music that matches the Month of Spookening and horror. I love spooky movies. I love spooky books. I love spooky video games (even though I am a wuss of the nth degree and prefer to watch other people play them). And I love spooky music. Greatest Hits:: Taeyeon (Girls' Generation): INVU

 Last of the girl group submissions for the moment, then I get to move on to some of the boy groups, but it's not just boy groups. There's a co-ed submission in there, which is such a yay from me. I'm excited for that. But! I'm also very excited for this, because she is a second gen heavy weight, reigning champion of an artist. Award-winning. Best-selling. Chart topping. And that's just her as a soloist, that's not even counting the years before that as the leader of Girls' Generation, which is one of the most well-known groups to come out of K-Pop. I admire her a lot, as you can tell, and I also think she's really cool. And funny. I don't know if she's generally known for her humor, but I think she's hilarious. She's also fairly out-spoken which is something else that I admire about her, but the group turns eighteen this year. But by the time this gets published, The CrewOne will have been on ASC, which means that I have to follow my rules. For the uninitiated, The CrewOne was a team put together for Ace of Ace  consisting of the fourth gen boy groups ATBO and JUST B. Apparently disbandment was in their future before the two groups got put together, which is completely ridiculous as JUST B debuted in 2021 and ATBO debuted in 2022. Music Show Wins:: Week of 01/29 - 02/04

What did I say in the review (which you can refer back to in the link in the graph directly below this) for Minnie? I said that I thought HER  would get two wins and we're already halfway there. Nice. I'm still waiting for Show Champion and The Show to resume, because when one of the others, like, say, Show! Music Core , doesn't have a winner, that decreases the number of potential first place wins for groups, and I know how important those are. On After School Club, we had KickFlip with their ASC debut, and despite the technical difficulties, it was absolutely precious watching them see the dance covers and the fan art that got submitted. How sweet for the rookies, especially since some of them were trainees longer than some groups are together full stop.  Even though I desperately want to do nothing but talk about my absolute ult and first group, the unfortunate reality I face every time I have to pick a song for either a GH or a BBS post, and it's one that everyone who is a fan of a disbanded group is aware of, is that until and unless they get back together after their enlistments, NU'EST songs are a finite resource. If I go hog wild on them, I will run out of them quickly. So, really, I should save them for special occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries. And this isn't one, but I have also spent the past week or so just missing them. So I'm ignoring the suggestions for this posting cycle, I'm ignoring the Roulette Wheel, and I'm ignoring the irrationality of the emotion. March 2025 Wrap-Up: It's Alive!!!!!!

 This was a distressing and emotional month for me, which is why it's taken me this long to get this one out. But! I think I'm finally enough caught up now that I feel comfortable with this being a comprehensive post for the month. Starting off with the debuts, I actually covered quite a few of them, which pleases me. Hoshi and Woozi debuted as a subunit of Seventeen. I also covered In A Minute , KiiiKiii , NewBeat , and RE:WIND . Those are all the links to the debuts I covered. Obviously, I'm ecstatic over the HxW even though I know very well what it means, and equally distraught over the song length problem. Battle of the B-Sides:: Fin.K.L: To My Boyfriend

 Let's go back in time a little bit to May of 1998, before a lot of newer idols were born. And by newer, I mean, this song was released about two weeks before SinB of GFriend/VIVIZ was born. Fin.K.L is one of those groups which had the Korean name decided first, with the English name to follow, which is why the English meaning is a little confusing (Fin Killing Liberty). Still, they'd end up being one of the greats of the first generation of K-Pop and an act to help break ground for future girl groups and soloists to move further into various markets.  Welcome, Fin.K.L. Their name in Hangeul is the only reason I have any idea of how to pronounce their group name (핑클).
