February 2026 Wrap-Up: Requiem

Image
Two months down! My apricot tree has started to form the blossom buds which is concerning, but maybe I'll take a picture for the March wrap-up so you can see how pretty it is.  Okay, let's take a look at these debuts, shall we? The groups that I covered were NAVILLERA ,  Daily:Direction . I covered two subunit debuts for QQQ (OnlyOneOf) and NCT JNJM (NCT) . For soloists, I covered Jiwoo (KARD ,  Lee Daeyeol (Golden Child) and Lee Jiham (A.C.E) 's debuts. If I can find a better list of debuts, then I'll include the ones I missed. Songs I was looking forward to:  ATEEZ: I'm deeply curious about where the lore is going to go with this, and also the b-sides because they've got some b-sides that I want tattooed onto my brain Monsta X: I love that they're getting more active again, although I am a little sad that they now have to wait for their maknae to get discharged NOWZ: We've had a streak of songs that I've really liked. I'm okay now if they sw...

There was exactly one win this week, and it wasn't one I was expecting to see as a name. That's delightful though. Good for them. So I compensated for the lack of videos by bringing three different songs for you with the extra stages. The lone link down there sends you directly to the review I did on this song. See you in the new year!! Show Champion: N/A MCountdown: N/A Music Bank: fromis_9 "White Memories" Show! Music Core: N/A Inkigayo: N/A ASC Performance: N/A The Show: N/A The Extra Stage: 20080920 2PM "10 out of 10" 20190215 Hwasa (MAMAMOO) "TWIT" 20241026 ITZY "GOLD"

Music Show Wins:: Week of 11/26 - 12/02

Well, awards season has gone into full swing. So, these posts are going to start being really thin, if last year is any indication. But not yet. This week is pretty full. First win for some songs, which is delightful. You'll notice an extra stage down there and I want to address it first. So, there I was, trying to decide which group and song to do for my The Show stage I now share with you all. And I ran across this song. And I thought to myself, "I absolutely have to share this with everyone. I need everyone to know this song exists." But I didn't think that I wanted it to be the only stage I shared because, let's be real, it's a little odd while simultaneously this is kind of the ultimate I.N song. So here you have a song about bread by a duo who also have a song about vegetables and a song about curry.  And speaking of Stray Kids, in honor of the last JYP group to win a Daesang at the MAMAs, I  found out that they were on ASC back in 2014 for episode 103...

Song Review:: Jun. K (2PM): Dear my muse- R&B Me (Feat. Changbin of Stray Kids)

Image
Release date: 2025 September 01 Album tracklist: PRIVACY, R&B ME (Feat. Changbin of Stray Kids),  ALL ON YOU (Feat. Youha), LARGO, HAPPY ENDING Album runtime: 13 minutes  I've actually already seen the little comment Jun. K made about bringing Changbin in for this song, and it's so sweet, on both ends. See, this is the kind of thing I like to see: company seniors and juniors interacting and working together. 2PM have proven to be very good sunbaes for Stray Kids, and Stray Kids have shown themselves to be competent, respectful hoobaes. There's an eleven year age difference and a nine year experience difference, but they're both very, very good at what they do, so this should be a treat. Other than the runtime. That would be a good one for four songs, not five. So I love how eerie and spooky and warped that intro is. Love it. It doesn't stay and the addition of the vocals softens it into something that is simply quietly supportive, maintaining the general sound w...

Song Review:: Jun. K (2PM): Paint This Love

Image
Release date: 2024 August 26 Album tracklist:  Paint This Love Album runtime: 3 minutes I'm a big fan of second gen vocalists, and I really like 2PM in general. Full disclosure, Jun. K is my favorite member of the group, which is why I'm making sure to review his song. And, as expected, after a quick look at the credits, I spy him as a lyrircist. This is lovely and mellow. The background instrumentals feel pretty standard with drums and at least one kind of guitar. There are sections designed to be an audience participation section with clapping, and I like those. I like it when there are audio cues to tell me to clap and then when to stop. There's nothing more awkward than not stopping when everyone else around you does. It also sounds like there's a keyboard in there.   I realized something listening to him this time around. His voice is like what you get if you took Onew's voice and Changsub's voice and mixed them together. It's like Onew's huskiness ...
