Song Review:: Crush: Queen of Tears OST- Love You With All My Heart

Image
Release date: 2024 March 24 Album tracklist: Love You With All My Heart , Love You With All My Heart - Inst. Album runtime: 8 minutes  There's a slight lull in the releases right now, so I'm going to pop back to March of 2024 briefly to add in a review to help fluff that page out a little. Other than the OST for Goblin , I'm not sure that I've actually heard a Crush song sung by Crush, even though I've heard quite a few covers, so obviously the songs are beloved. I figure going with an OST is a good place to start in my listening to Crush songs sung by the original artist mission as I already love one. So, I genuinely and deeply love the fact that we get the instrumentals for this. There's something about them that have an underwater vibe to them, a tone or a quality. There's no sense of fierce drama. But there is a bittersweet ache to them of loss. I haven't seen Queen of Tears yet so I know neither when this song is used nor actually what it's abou...

Song Review:: NND: Wonder, I- First {Debut}

Image
Release date: 2024 March 16 Album tracklist:  First , Overdrive , Night Off, Love is a Myth, Kind of Love, First - Instrumental Album runtime: 3 minutes  In the quiet times of December, I found a debut from March. They're a band duo, consisting of a guitarist and a keyboardist, and fun fact about the keyboardist maknae, he was the keyboardist for a cover of IU's Love Wins All  performed by Brown-Eyed Girls' member JeA . How cool is that? They both wrote and composed all five songs on this, their debut album. They're both full-fledged adults, which is again something I am completely supportive of. Also, I've apparently had the first four songs of the album in my take-another-gander playlist. The simple fact that they released the instrumental alongside their debut song brings me joy. There's a really beautiful softness to the song that I really like, even when the energy is up, and it reminds me of something DAY6 might release. There's also a beautiful momen...

Song Review:: Minhyun (NU'EST): Lullaby

Image
Release date: 2024 March 13 Album tracklist: Lullaby Album runtime: 4 minutes  I was debating a lot about when I would be doing this song. I knew I was going to eventually, but the time never felt right to do it. However. His expected discharge date is Christmas 2025, and this is a good present for me, so I'm doing this for Christmas 2024, when he has one year left. This was his "Goodbye, I'll see you when I'm finished" present to the LOVEs and the Hwangdos. I trust that he's doing well, and that he's doing his job well because I can't see him doing anything without exceptional dedication. Just ask the abalones he was asked to clean back in 2019 during some cooking content they did. I have other reviews I need to be doing, but I need to mark the one year left for him and this is a good excuse considering that.  Okay, I've delayed this enough. This is another one of those songs that I desperately wish I could have just the instrumental for. Between ...

Song Review:: DAY6: Fourever- Welcome to the Show

Image
Release date: 2024 March 18 Album tracklist:  Welcome to the Show , HAPPY , The Power of Love, Get The Hell Out, Sad Ending, Let Me Love You, didn't know Album runtime: 24 minutes  I figured that since I have a moment and I did a b-side from the album (congrats again on the win for HAPPY! ), I should probably do the actual title track for the album. I actually love the whole album. It ended up on repeat swapped off with JR's he put out in January, and that ended up in my top listens of the year. Fourever missed out on joining it by not a lot. Also, this was their first album post-military if I remember correctly, which is why the album title is what it is. The drumset gets a lot of attention during the song, but most of the time behind it, you can hear the keyboard doing rather delicate chords. That creates a brighter sound than the drumming would normally suggest. They also did a good job of building variation into their instrumentals, so that while there is a bit of repetiti...

Song Review:: Song (iKON): It's CALL!- It's call {Debut}

Image
Release date: 2024 March 06 Album tracklist:  It's call , I.I.L (I'm In Love) (feat. Bobby), Miss You, This is what I live for, FIGHTING - Band Version Album runtime: 16 minutes  Well, Song is in the military, and I want to fluff out the March releases a little more since I've got a moment. I'm also very clearly avoiding another member of the 95z who is currently enlisted and released a single in March of this year, but with the amount of cheer in this fabulous love song, I think this would be a good time to use it to try to combat seasonal depression for those of us who have it to go with the plants and the vitamin D, since I know those things can also help. Plus, it's a debut. And I love those. I also love trot. Hilariously though, with as much as I've listened to it this year, it didn't make my top 100 on Spotify.  This song isn't the serious unseriousness of Super Tuna or God of Light Music  topic-wise, seeing that it is a love of a person rather tha...

Song Review:: Wendy (Red Velvet): Wish You Hell- Wish You Hell

Image
  Release date: 2024 March 11 Album tracklist: Wish You Hell , His Car Isn't Yours, Best Ever, Better Judgement, Queen Of The Party, Vermillion Album runtime: 9 minutes  Before I plunge into the laundry list of recent debuts because the amount panicked me for a moment, I'm going to do a March release to help fill that list out a little bit better and to ease me into the laundry list. Who better than Wendy to avoid doing the one that I'm most aware released last March? Plus, it's been eight-and-a-half months since this released. Also, the demon child (my cat named T'Challa who has intensely strong opinions about K-Pop and has both an ult group and a bias within that group, and yes, it's weird for me too) has settled into my lap because he's cold while I write this, so I'll have to let him take a listen. He's got surprisingly good taste. I don't know that I've ever had him listen to Red Velvet in either solo or group form, so I'm a little c...

Song Review:: The New Six: Fuego

Image
Release date: 2024 March 20 Album tracklist: Fuego Album runtime: 3 minutes  Before the rush of the next couple of days, I'm going to do another review to fluff out the March page a little more. So, in honor of Ace of Ace and how upset I am about them leaving the show, I'm going to do this one. Also, because I don't know what's going on with them with the recent enlistment/leaving news, but I hope they're doing okay.  The intro sounds like an old Universal Studios movie, and there's a real sense of drama with the instrumentals, which would make me hopeful for the rest of the song. The chorus is a little frustrating because it's too similar to what's going on with the vocals, instead of taking the opportunity to provide some contrast. I do really like the acceleration of the instrumentals during the bridge. I just wish I liked it better. I've had it on repeat for a few hours trying to figure out how I feel about it, and the conclusion I've come to...

Song Review:: DAESUNG (BIGBANG): Falling Slowly

Image
  Release date: 2024 March 05 Album tracklist: Falling Slowly , Light Album runtime: 7 minutes Ah, a proper song length. I'm writing this before the frantic rush of the next few days in terms of releases, because competition there will be fierce. And also to start to pad out the March releases because somebody had to get a win on a music show months later. I joke. I'm actually very happy for them. And I picked this one because I scrolled randomly, and his was the one my cursor was on when I stopped. I feel like Daesung needs very little introduction. He is the maknae of BIGBANG after all.  The instrumentals for this song are absolutely gorgeous with a lovely acoustic guitar that gets to spend time at the front of the song, before it hands over the reigns to an electric for very strategic sections. But seriously, that beginning is one of the most soothing things. There's a sense of the bittersweet to it, because at no point is there a strong bass driving the song, and the ho...

Song Review:: DAY6: Fourever- HAPPY

Image
Release date: 2024 March 18 Album tracklist:  Welcome to the Show , HAPPY , The Power of Love, Get The Hell Out, Sad Ending, Let Me Love You, didn't know Album runtime: 24 minutes If it seems odd that I'm reviewing a song that came out in March, you would be correct. I wasn't intending to, but events being such as they are and my ridiculous ideas being what they are, here I am. This is also going to royally mess with my organization system for the moment, but that means I'm going to have to do a couple of March reviews to pad out the page this inevitably goes into. I'm making more work for myself with the weekly wins on the music shows. Hence this seven-month-late review. So look for that. Enough whining from me! Congrats on the win, DAY6! From the bottom of my heart, even though I'm sad you had to beat NU'EST's record, I'm glad you're did beat it, and now you've gotten a couple of wins on different songs in the last few weeks. The title is v...
