Just A Little Fangirl Love

  This is the first week in a hot minute where I've actually already had the songs reviewed in full! It helps that we had two repeats, but I'm also excited about the two first wins for songs on here! And we got a Triple Crown for JUMP even though it has not been promoted! Whoo! The Triple Crown also means that next week, we're guaranteed a new win on Inkigayo, which is helpful for the other groups.  With After School Club still on hiatus, here's the re-run for the week. It's actually pretty fitting because I'm starting to migrate into wanting to actually learn about the members in the group rather than simply loving every single song I hear from them. For the record, I am always on the lookout for other groups like them! I keep finding girl groups I really like, get all excited and then the excitement deflates because I read the "d" word. Sadness. But! I'm very excited for this first subunit from them! There is a hollow echoey quality to the instrumentals that in a different song would be delicate and fairylike. This is not that song. It's also got a pretty strong afrobeat with a decent amount of variation to keep my currently uncaffeinated brain focused on the instrumentals when this isn't exactly my favorite style of song, but that's okay. Album runtime: 11 minutes  My spooky Halloween girl group dropped a Christmas single! Most exciting! I'm even more excited about the fact that it's almost four minutes long. Don't mind me. I'm just happily basking in this. I spent about the first quarter of the song thinking about how pretty and surprisingly subdued the instrumentals were, especially for a Dreamcatcher song, then the energy kicked up and the rock-tinged instrumentals I know and love flared to life. The chorus should normally have an increase in energy, but this epitomizes the notion of the quiet before the storm. The chorus instrumentals automatically appear to be louder just by virtue of the relative quiet immediately preceding and proceeding the chorus.  I love Halloween. It's been my favorite holiday for literally my entire life. I have loved Halloween longer than Sangyeon of The Boyz has been alive, barely because my first Halloween was a couple of days before he was born, but according to my mother, even at the age of not-quite one years old, I have loved it. She dressed me up as a San Francisco 49ers cheerleader. I have pictures.  One of the most important things, then, is finding music that matches the Month of Spookening and horror. I love spooky movies. I love spooky books. I love spooky video games (even though I am a wuss of the nth degree and prefer to watch other people play them). And I love spooky music.
