Just A Little Fangirl Love

I was so busy this month. Y'all. I didn't do a ton of the reviews, which is coming back to bite me in the butt now that I'm trying to get my year end post worked on. It's fine. Past Fangirl hates Future Fangirl, and it's completely fine.  July debuts! I only did a single review for a debut group this month, and it was for AHOF , who has been doing quite well for a rookie group. I may get 1verse reviewed because I still feel guilty about not reviewing them. Debuts I didn't cover: CrazAngel (girl group), Tomatomat (girl group), 1verse (boy group), 4X4 (girl group) and SEVENTOEIGHT  (boy group).   Big Ocean JJ (subunit of Big Ocean) also debuted. And Kang Yuchan , the lovely maknae of A.C.E, debuted as a soloist! Songs I was looking forward to: BLACKPINK: Look, this was their first release as a group since I started listening to K-Pop. Even if I don't listen to the group a lot (though I do have a few songs I really like, which is unfortunately a high perc...

Good news, everyone! I asked for some spooky songs in The Form , and I got a couple! You guys all rock! I mean it! Also, Purple Kiss are some of the queens of spooky, and I love that about them. I man, I just generally love them, so I'm excited that I got this one. Love Is Dead  is their fifth song from their fourth mini album, Geekyland. The number of cooks in the kitchen for this one is actually pretty small: two lyricists and two composers. First up, we have Kang Jiwon, who has done quite a few of Purple Kiss's songs, but also a few for MAMAMOO, TWICE, BEAST, and B.A.P (two notable ones are 1004 and One Shot ). Next up for the solo composer, we have someone named Davve, who seems to have almost exclusively worked on Purple Kiss songs. Still, that's very cool. And last up, we have the solo lyricist, who is none other than Purple Kiss's own Yuki! Whoo! This is such a good song. Thank you for introducing me to it.  I recently described another, much more recent, song a...

Release date: 2025 July 16 Album tracklist:  DOREMI,  LOST & FOUND, VVV Album runtime: 9 minutes  So the English album, Purple Kiss's final release (for now, they may sign with a new company, or have reunions for anniversaries, the former I'm really hoping for because I adore this group and I'm so sad that they're not coming back to my city for this tour because I can't make it to them unless something happens to fall exactly into place) released . Still. While I quietly and gently hope for them to go to a new company if that's what they want, The Form is always open for you if you're missing them. I'd actually like to do a Purple Kiss post but because I like them, I feel like I need someone else to agree that they want one. The indulgence seems a bit much just for me to do it. Although November would be a good time for one. This is a hint. Please. So would March, actually, because they're one of my March debuts. This song is almost four minutes ...

Triple Crown came in this week, which is so exciting. Don't get me wrong. But you know what's more exciting? Two rookie groups got their first ever wins! Y'all, I cannot even pretend not to be ecstatic over this. This is so exciting! Congrats to KiiiKiii and Close Your Eyes! Whoo!!!!  For the ASC performance this week since they're still on hiatus, I just scrolled randomly through the playlist and the one I stopped on was the one I offer to you all, and I'm very pleased to say that here is Purple Kiss's attendance for Sweet Juice  back in 2023. MC's were Aron from NU'EST as well as Allen and Taeyoung of Cravity. And I have to say, I absolutely love Taeyoung's hair this episode. He looks so good. And it's also really cute that the members did the fanchant while the one fan was doing the dance cover. But you know what's really funny? The voice changing segment. You guys will enjoy it. Show Champion: Jennie (BLACKPINK) "Like Jennie" ...

October is my Spookening month, my favorite month of the year. It also marks the anniversary of my first K-Pop performance that I saw! Thank you for coming, NINE.i! Also, once more, I want to thank you all for reading any of the reviews thus far. You are all lovely and amazing, and I hope you always have a cool side to your pillow.  I'm also already seeing the personal benefits of doing this, namely how distracted I am from the recent enlistments and the upcoming ones across groups. There is a lot to be doing, and a lot to be paying attention to. So, let's get to it! Starting off with my space to be indulgent and a fan, as I sit here sipping from my Seventeen tumbler and wearing a NU'EST shirt, there were some releases that I've been looking forward to for months, one that might qualify as a historic occasion, and some that definitely piqued my interest more than others. Google already thinks I'm obsessed with only G-Dragon. There is only G-Dragon. (I have exactly ...

Release date: 2024 October 22 Album tracklist: Intro: Concrete Jungle, ON MY BIKE , Sweet Nightmare, Encore, Light the way Album runtime: 13 minutes  They were, I think, the first K-Pop group to actually come and hold a concert in my city. Obviously, I went. The Rose came about a year ago, but they're a band, so it's not exactly the same thing. Regardless, I had to laugh because when I saw them, that made the first three groups I saw in person all have March debuts. It's a thing with me. Fun fact: they have the same debut anniversary as NU'EST, just nine years apart.  Oof, that is a short runtime. But it's fine. I barely count that intro as a song. Oh, the chorus sounds so much like Kang Daniels's Paranoia , which means it instantly has my attention. So, essentially, there are three different sections of instrumentals for this song. First, the haunted doll aesthetic with the music-box mimicking piano (likely a keyboard made to sound like a harpsichord) and its a...
