Song Review:: ODD YOUTH: Babyface- Babyface

Image
Release date: 2026 March 12 Album track list: Babyface ,  C♡NDY.exe Album runtime: 5 mi nutes  My girls dropped a new single! You almost just got a lot of capital letters and while I am mentally shouting I don't want to scare y'all away from my enthusiasm over this group! I can't wait for how weird the music video is. They've gotten second gen weird music videos and I love it. I'm disappointed by the runtimes for the two songs here though, but at least the title track is closer to three minutes than two. The restraint I'm having to use to not just watch the music video. As a side note, C♡NDY.exe is a delightful little song. That is a lovely bass for the beat. We get some spots where the bass goes away which immediately changes the sound of the song, but we also get quite a few where it's just the bass. The overall drama level of the song is medium, but it's still solid enough on the whole with good movement and flow that this song moves well. Here's ...

April 2025 Wrap-Up: April Showers...

 Howdy, folks and cowfolks!  Starting off with the debuts! I actually have one still sitting in my drafts so that will have to happen eventually, but I also only covered three of the others: CLOSE YOUR EYES , ifeye , and SWEET:CH . I'm still frustrated by certain trends regarding girl group debuts right now, but the two boy groups didn't frustrate me in the same way.  Also debuting were  SKINZ (a virtual boy group), TSSJ (a virtual girl group), VVS , OSDS , HITGS , and  UDTT . I mentioned it in the review I wrote for one of their later songs, but there's also a boy group called VVS and that's also the name of Vanner's fandom. So if you're into that debut, be aware that there may be some future confusion. Hopefully the company changes the name. It's been known to happen. Songs I was looking forward to: Solar (MAMAMOO): I'm always going to be really excited about anything MAMAMOO as a group or as soloists do, because you know we're basically guarante...

Song Review:: ODD YOUTH: I Like You- I Like You

Release Date: 2025 April 15 Album tracklist: Spooky, I Like You , Bubble Bubble, Hot Chicken, Bestie Album runtime: 15 minutes  First comeback from my girls! Yes! You can find my reviews of their first two songs ( Best Friendz and THAT'S ME respectively), and Best Friendz has an English version, and I just love them so much. That's a run-on sentence technically. I don't think I care. I still love Best Friendz so much. ODD YOUTH are still in their first six months, so to recap, by the end of their first year, they'll all be adults except the maknae who will still be eighteen by the end of this year, so I'm allowing myself to err on the side of ambiguity, and I really like them.  Okay, I did a quick listen of the whole mini album, and I gotta say that Hot Chicken is a delight . It's so weird and also is such a strong song, and yes, I'm now partial to it, but I kind of wish they'd gone with that one for the title track because it's so weird. Would ...

Song Review:: ODD YOUTH: Best Friendz- THAT'S ME

Image
Release date: 2024 November 01 Album tracklist:  Best Friendz , THAT'S ME Album runtime: 5 minutes  Guess who just found out there's a music video for ODD YOUTH's s-side!!! That's right! It's me! One of my favorite debuts from 2024 got a music video for the other song on their debut single! Also, guess who just found out she hadn't paid attention to the album information when she posted the debut review! Also me! That's fixed now. My apologies to everyone. So compared to the very cute debut track they had, THAT'S ME  has more of an edge to it. Also, a cowbell. I don't know about the rest of you, but having what sounds like a cowbell show up in a K-Pop song summoned the yeehaw in my ancestry, which was then also very confused because nothing else about this song requires the yeehaw. This is just some good dance pop with some fascinating variations to the instrumentals. There are frequent breaks where there's two or fewer instruments in play, neith...

 ðŸŽ‰ðŸŽˆðŸŽ¶ Happy birthday to meee! And also my best friend! She's amazing and smart and talented, and I love her.  Thank you all to everyone who has read any of the posts or offered suggestions for my GH or BBS posts! I really appreciate it. And, excitingly for me, I've got a couple more regulars, so I'd like to personally thank y'all for finding my posts before I get them either on Tumblr or Reddit.  This post is always so long. Oof. Some debuts that happened this month that I've mentioned:  ToTh6y ,  13Found ,  KELT9b , and  KJRGL . Some debuts that happened that I didn't know about: UN1CON , W!TCHX , and...

Song Review:: ODD YOUTH: Best Friendz- Best Friendz {Debut}

Release date: 2024 November 01 Album tracklist: Best Friendz , THAT'S ME Album runtime: 5 minutes  So, last night, I was looking up what the members of Shinhwa have been doing lately, because I would love to see them release a new album, but I'll likely have to wait for another anniversary album. Which is fine. Anyway, as I was looking in to them, I found out that the maknae, Andy, has been busy with groups! (Also, it wouldn't surprise me if he named the company after their first financial success, which is a fabulous song and I love it). He had both TEEN TOP and UP10TION, which is super exciting for me to discover because I like both of those groups. Why do I bring them up? Because ODD YOUTH is the latest group to debut from one of the OGs of K-Pop and join their older brothers, MCND, as one of the active groups under TOP MEDIA. I do have to decide on if I can listen to this group, if I end up liking them though, because yes, the maknae is 16 and yes, they don't have m...
