Music Show Wins:: Week of 05/07 - 05/13

One of those wins is not like the others. I saw the article the other day talking about its surprise climb up the charts since last October, but what's so impressive about this is the song is over a year old and Woodz is in the military (also, this was his second win ever, which makes me so genuinely happy for him). He gets out in July, which is now something else for me to look forward to while I wait for Minhyun to get out. We're down to about seven months for him, about ten for JR, and about thirteen for Jeonghan and Ren (I think). Little micro-goals to focus on instead of the inevitable creep of time resulting in more idols enlisting. The discharges is a much less stressful thing to focus on. I also apologize for the lack of reviews the last few days, so I'll move these necessary reviews up to the top of the list for me to do, and add Woodz in. Not that this is a hardship because I love Drowning , but whatever. (This is a hint that if someone else also loves this song...

Music Show Wins:: Week of 04/16 - 04/22

Hello, hello! Congrats to the winners this week! I'm fully in agreeance with who won. Excellent songs. A first time win, and then a couple of repeat winners, which is always nice to see them rack up those wins. Very nice.  Speaking of Very Nice, I'm delighted to share with you all this After School Club episode I found that has The Eric Nam, Jamie, and Kevin from U-KISS as the MCs. And while normally, because I like timing to work out well, I'd wait to have this closer to the group's tenth anniversary, I don't know how long ASC will be on hiatus, and I'd hate to miss the chance to share with you Baby Seventeen! That's right, gals, pals, and nonbinary pals! ASC for you all this time around is 2015 Seventeen, a month after debut! While I was watching it so that I had things to say about it, I had to keep pausing it because the cuteness aggression was making it hard to breathe sometimes. That or my posture was terrible. Either way, I want to squish them. Withi...

Music Show Wins:: Week of 04/02 - 04/08

Triple Crown came in this week, which is so exciting. Don't get me wrong. But you know what's more exciting? Two rookie groups got their first ever wins! Y'all, I cannot even pretend not to be ecstatic over this. This is so exciting! Congrats to KiiiKiii and Close Your Eyes! Whoo!!!!  For the ASC performance this week since they're still on hiatus, I just scrolled randomly through the playlist and the one I stopped on was the one I offer to you all, and I'm very pleased to say that here is Purple Kiss's attendance for Sweet Juice  back in 2023. MC's were Aron from NU'EST as well as Allen and Taeyoung of Cravity. And I have to say, I absolutely love Taeyoung's hair this episode. He looks so good. And it's also really cute that the members did the fanchant while the one fan was doing the dance cover. But you know what's really funny? The voice changing segment. You guys will enjoy it. Music Show Wins:: Week of 03/19 - 03/25

Well, all sorts of groups got wins this week, along with a Triple Crown! Congrats to all the groups for their first win for the songs! There isn't a single song that won on more than one show this week, which I like for the sake of diversity, and that means lots of different stages to share with you all. Also, three of the wins were with YG affiliated soloists/groups. After School Club had TNX (the group formerly known as The New Six) on, which was cool for them to talk about their new song before it comes out. Also, the amount of times they said something like "We didn't ask the company for permission, but it's fine" was hysterical, and one of the five of them is an absolute character. He's a delight. Also, the MCs on ASC announced this was the final episode of season 1 of ASC, which has lasted for twelve years, so they'll be going on hiatus for a little bit before the next season. So rather than just not include an ASC performance at all, because I can...

Song Review:: LE SSERAFIM: HOT- HOT

Image
Release date: 2025 March 14 Album track list: Born Fire, HOT , Come Over, Ash, So Cynical (Badum) Album runtime: 13 mi nutes  It's been interesting watching the past year or so for LE SSERAFIM, watching how they've handled the various accusations leveled at them and watching how they've responded to other groups in the industry. It was somewhat of a tumultuous year, to be sure, but it certainly feels like they've lived, they've learned, and now they're moving on with their story with more XP to level up with than they had before, which is exactly as it should be as we go through life.  And once again, HYBE, why are all of your artists putting out albums with songs that are barely two minutes long? I was upset about Enhypen, flabbergasted by TxT, baffled by Seventeen, infuriated for BSS, HxW, and Baekho, and I've now swung back to appalled for LE SSERAFIM. Stop making your artists have samples of songs as the full tracks! If it was one group, maybe two, I...

Song Review:: Huh Yunjin (LE SSERAFIM): jellyfish

Image
Release date: 2025 January 11 Album tracklist: jellyfish Album runtime: 3 minutes  I'm only vaguely familiar with the LE SSERAFIM members, having seen somewhere that they reminded someone else of MAMAMOO and GFRIEND in terms of chaos, and so I have in fact watched some content with them to enjoy the chaos. I also have memorized some random details about some of the members so that I can remember which group this is. In this case, Yunjin is actually one of the ones I memorized some details about. She's a former IZ*ONE member, operatically trained singer, and we share a certain snakey wizard house. That last one is the reason why I remember the other two details. The song sounds a little bit like it's underwater with the instrumentals, which is fascinating and fits really well with the title of the song. I'm reminded a little bit of the underwater level in Mt Gagazet from Final Fantasy X , which is always a good sign when I'm reminded of my favorite video game. I'...

Song Review:: LE SSERAFIM: CRAZY- CRAZY

Image
Release date: 2024 August 30 Album tracklist: Chasing Lightning, CRAZY , Pierrot, 1-800-hot-n-fun, Crazier Album runtime: 15 minutes      Why is there only one song in the album that is longer than three minutes? I rounded up on the runtime to get that length. I am not a fan of this trend.       Anyway.      I'm likely not going to be adding this song to any of my regular listening playlists. It's too grating on my ears to want to listen to it too much; even listening to it on repeat to write this is proving unpleasant for me. I also haven't watched the music video yet. I'll get to that when I get to that section, but from what I've heard of the choreography, that may warm the song up to me a little.       As it stands, it's incredibly effective with the concept it has. It reminds me of SHINee's Ring Ding Dong , in terms of the earworm-ness to it. The club EDM with the synth and the MIDI fits so well to the con...
