Just A Little Fangirl Love

  Y'all, I almost forgot today was Tuesday. We did not have a clean sweep this week, but we did have three Triple Crowns, which is a different, but equally impressive achievement. The group who achieved has, understandably, not been promoting on the music shows because they've started their world tour. The other artist got a first win for the song, and I hope she gets at least one more. For the After School Club re-run, I went with one that I covered and I have already shared, back in 2024. It's ep.649 with Billlie! I revisited some of the older episodes while I was sick this last week and I was reminded of how much I liked this one, even though I'm not as familiar with the group. For the The Show re-run, I went with CSR back in 2022. Whoo! I'm curious and excited about this, because she's got a good voice, and seventy percent of the songs are over three minutes, so I'm pleased. If this doesn't have some really good choreography to it, I'm going to be sad. There's a very good beat to it, and the drums hold that line really well. There's just not really a lot of variation in the rhythm with that beat, even when we have different sections of what is going on above it come in. This isn't her solo debut though. Not that I think it really matters, but regardless, it's still exciting. Red Velvet in general have phenomenal voices, so I'm looking forward to this. But also, there isn't a single song on this album that is shorter than three minutes, so everyone! Listen to the album on principle of not having any ridiculous songs! The song has a bit of a dreamy swirl moving through it occasionally.  It's a very pretty song. There are bits with a somewhat strong beat that give the song a stronger flavor, but overall, the blend is quite nice. There are spaces in the song where it would make sense for the choreography to be a little bit stronger, which I'm hoping is the case. It's a very summery song, althou...

And wow. I've avoided the actual song so far, but it is time. Hopefully Red Velvet as a whole group can have a proper comeback soon, but in the meantime, I'm very excited for the Reveluvs and this subunit. The runtime does make me squint at SM a little. I do not like that. But at least the title track is over three minutes. That intro feels very 1940s/1950s. Anyway. That is an incredibly strong beat through a lot of the song, but the piano solo sections are wandering into the magical realm of possibilities.  I haven't done a lot of the Big 3 groups in these, which is fine. I like that because while they've done a lot of groups, they haven't done all the groups and there are a lot of very good groups that aren't from one of the Big 3 companies. But I'm also not going to discriminate against a bigger group because though they've had more opportunities to grow because of the weight behind them, that doesn't mean they don't also deserve their renown. And so, thank you to whoever tossed Red Velvet at me from The Form. They're one of those groups that while I haven't heard a lot of their songs, the ones I have heard, I've loved ( Red Flavor is my absolute jam), so this opportunity for me to deep dive into one I haven't heard is awesome.
