Greatest Hits:: VIXX: On and On 다칠 준비가 돼 있어

 I promised that I'd do a VIXX post, didn't I? After all, what would Halloween be without the original Concept Kings? If you were to have a list of Halloween appropriate songs and it wasn't half-filled with VIXX songs, I'd be confused. In this case, I have a special fondness for this song because I keep singing part of it during my D&D games because it's wholly appropriate for our poor characters. Also, if anyone needs the range of concept that VIXX pulled out, the last post I did for the whole group was VOODOO DOLL, where they were trapped dolls in their own rooms of torment and external control. What is it this time? A lot of fun. VIXX debuted in 2012 as a six-member group under Jellyfish Entertainment. Most of their songs so far have been with the six of them, and considering how early this one is, it wouldn't be surprising that this one is with all six. Which it is. Also, all six of them are over 180cm, so they're also fairly tall. The more you learn...

Greatest Hits:: AOA: Miniskirt

 Welcome to August and the beginning of songs that could be considered "Events" in some way. It's what I'm calling this month, anyway. And we're starting with one of the technically milder songs, but still one of the bigger ones because of what this song did for the group. Cultural impact, not just a dinosaur-killing asteroid impact crater in terms of group popularity counts here in August, so you'll be seeing a range. Also, I'm going to quietly admit that I have fallen into my tendencies again for August, so you can expect boy groups to be b-sides and the girl groups to be title tracks and I really don't mean to do that as consistently as I do, so while I'm looking at the rest of the year, I'm going to have to be thinking about that tendency. Case in point, we have a girl group's title track to start out the month of August (my VIP friend picked this one from my list I was thinking about for August). AOA debuted in 2012 as an eight-member ...

Battle of the B-Sides:: RAINZ- Music up

 Next up from the Roulette Wheel that I made of songs I could theoretically cover this month, we have a Produce 101 S2 era project group. I'm not going to turn this into a NU'EST adjacent post, so insert the applicable connections as though I've already said them. Now, that being said, one of my favorite things that happens post-survival shows, especially the big ones that are backed by the major broadcasting companies, is the number of smaller project groups that pop up made up of former participants. They don't usually last much longer than the debuting group from the show, but they're usually a very interesting composition of the trainees. AB6IX could be considered such a group, for instance.  RAINZ debuted in October of 2017 and disbanded in October of 2018 as a seven-member group, all of whom have debuted as soloists since then and two of which debuted in other groups later. The majority of the members of RAINZ were between ranks 31 and 62 when they were elimin...

Greatest Hits:: Girl's Day: Something

 So when I was trying to decide how I was going to honor my boys getting discharged, I decided to give each one of them a song to represent another aspect about them other than just as idols. For Minhyun back in December, it was a NU'EST song he was a lyricist for (thank you Submitter, for tossing that into my lap and helping me decide how I was going to do this). For JR back in March, it was a song for which he learned to play the bass guitar that was in a drama he acted in. For Baekho, I'm going to do a song he has writing credits for (y'all are going to be surprised by what song I pick, but you've got about a year before you get to find out which one it is). For Ren, as soon as I decided it was going to be some sort of a representative song, there was literally only one choice I could do: Something by Girl's Day. For those of you who know, of course I'm going to include that. For those of you who don't, look forward to a very funny comment section. I als...

Greatest Hits:: Yezi: Cider

 Welcome to June, where I'm going to be stepping outside my comfort zone a little bit! It's also going to be majorly sentimental here at the end of this month because I've got two discharges that I'm looking forward to. But that's in the future, and we're going to start the month off with a me kicking myself off a cliff. I touched a solo rapper (metaphorically, please don't come at me with the pitch forks because I have never actually been close enough to RM to touch him and unless something really weird happens in my life, I never will) back in March, but I picked a soft, comfortable-for-me song that wasn't too far away from something I normally would vibe with. When I was looking for songs to put in June, I decided to do a female rapper, because I thought that would match the Woodz submission coming up in a few weeks and force me out of my safety zone. And I listened to a few songs with none of them giving me that "Yes, I need to do this now"...
