Music Show Wins:: Week of 2025 01/01 - 01/07

Image
  We didn't get any of the music shows for the first part of the week because of the mourning period. Starting with Music Bank , we got a return to a song that had a couple of weeks without a win, and as soon as I saw the name, I started laughing. And then for Inkigayo , we got another older song. YG supremacy. For After School Club (ASC), the hip-hop girl group YOUNG POSSE were the guests. I found them to be delightfully adorable. There wasn't an MC challenge, which made me a little sad because that's my favorite segment, but I was very entertained by the members regardless. The link for the episode is included as always. I'm not including any performances this round because of who got the wins and the lack of a performance from YOUNG POSSE, but I will include a live performance from them Show Champion: N/A MCountdown: N/A Music Bank:  Rosé x Bruno Mars "APT." Show! Music Core: N/A Inkigayo: G-Dragon "HOME SWEET HOME" ASC Performance: YOUNG POSSE T...

Song Review:: Rosé (BLACKPINK): rosie- toxic till the end

Image
Release date: 2024 December 06 Album tracklist:  number one girl ,  3am, two years, toxic till the end , drinks or coffee,    APT. , gameboy, stay a little loner, not the same, call it the end, too bad for us, dance all night Album runtime: 36 minutes Well, it's finally released. After her stellar run with APT.  (which needed very little promotion to explode so thoroughly two of the eleven-year-olds I coach sometimes were singing it the other day, and the one was doing the hand motions to boot. It was a surprise that shook me for a good couple of hours.), I know anticipation and expectations must be very high for the album among fans and casual listeners alike.  I'm a big fan of how the song starts with science fiction warbling. I'm generally a fan of that being featured anyway, but starting it off this way gives the entire song an interesting vibe, as well as when the science fiction warbling comes back into play later. There are strong synthy bursts of gu...

Song Review:: Rosé (BLACKPINK): rosie- number one girl

Release date: 2024 December 06 Album tracklist:  number one girl ,  3am, two years, toxic till the end , drinks or coffee,    APT. , gameboy, stay a little loner, not the same, call it the end, too bad for us, dance all night Album runtime: 36 minutes  Hah! I figured out how to get the accent on the e. I'll retroactively go back and fix everything when I have a moment. I would have done what I did earlier, but I honestly didn't think it would work. More fool me. Also, I'll update this with the album's tracklist on release. Here comes the second of her singles leading up to her release in December. After the dominance of APT.  from last month, expecting the same explosive, worldwide obsession is unrealistic for this one as well (though lightning does sometimes strike twice), but I hope it does well at least. The solo piano throughout the first part of the song works well as a melancholy background, thematically appropriate given the topic of the lyrics. Ther...

Music Show Wins: Week of 11/13 - 11/19

Ros é's reign continues. It's genuinely fascinating to me considering she's not promoting it in Korea. I'm not sure that she's actually promoting at all, but since I haven't spent that much BLACKPINK stuff to begin with, let alone the members' solo careers, I am not the demographic to know what all is going on with her. Still, beginning their own power sweep is TxT. Aespa finally managed to knock Ros é out of her position as queen of Inkigayo at the moment, which is a natural passing of the crown. Let's see if they can keep it for next week or if someone else can get it. On ASC, during the MC Challenge, they had to do it extra times, and then water may have been requested after it. So ONE PACT's challenge is no joke. It entertained me. And Aron talked about his hangout with his members, which made me happy. Show Champion: Tomorrow x Together "Over The Moon" (note: I couldn't find a performance for this, so this is the Inkigayo performan...

Music Show Wins: Week of 11/06 - 11/12

Well, Ros é is still going strong this week. I'm genuinely impressed even as I'd like to cry a little from the fact that she's not actively promoting on the music shows (which isn't a problem in and of itself) so there are no stages I can share with you. As happy as I am that she's continuing to do so well, and I am, I want a little bit more variation so you all can get more variation in the videos. MCountdown didn't have a winner this week, and THE BOYZ essentially took aespa's spots from last week. But Kep1er got their first win for TIPI-TAP! And I would just like to say that while Aron struggles often with doing the dance challenges on ASC (it's my favorite segment because I think it's endearing) and this one was no different, at one point Taeyoung, fresh off the Ace of Ace intense journey of constant dance, said something along the lines of "I feel like I'm suddenly a bad dancer." Which made me laugh, but also says exactly how har...

Music Show Wins: Week of 10/30 - 11/05

Well, it's a girl group domination this week for the wins. The fact that Ros é isn't doing much promoting in Korea is deeply inconvenient for me when I'm trying to share performances of each win. This is a joke. If she and Bruno Mars keep winning, that's fine. Genuinely couldn't be happier for them. Show Champion: aespa "Whiplash" (note: I couldn't find the performance if they did one, so I'm going to use Inkigayo's performance) MCoun tdown: Ros é x Bruno Mars "APT." (note: I'm just going to include the music video here again) Music Bank: aespa "Whiplash" Show! Music Core: Ros é x Bruno Mars "APT." Inkigayo: Ros é x Bruno Mars "APT." ASC Performance: POW The Show: tripleS "Hit the Floor"

Music Show Wins: Week of 10/23 - 10/29

 With Seventeen out of the country, it's nigh impossible for them to film for these episodes of the music shows. And with R os é not exactly being able to promote with Bruno Mars on the music shows, actual performances of that one are few and far between. The struggle is real, my friends. On the bright side, The Show is finally back up again, so I get to include those wins starting now. And I appreciate this one because we got some variety to this week's wins. On the other hand, the SAY MY NAME members are kind of funny. Show Champion!: Seventeen "Love, Money, Fame" (note: Seventeen was out of the country for their tour, and I'm using the MCountdown performance here because they didn't win on MCountdown) MCountdown: Ro s é  x Bruno Mars "APT." (Note: I haven't seen her performing it anywhere. So...have the one from Bruno Mars's YouTube channel) Music Bank: Seventeen "Love, Money, Fame" (Note: They're not in the country, so this...

Music Show Wins: Week of 10/16 - 10/22

This week is apparently dominated by the soloists, as we have both a member of BLACKPINK as well as a member of aespa taking home wins. Karina's required to me do a review on the song, which is fine. I'm happy to do it.  Show Champion, Inkigayo, and The Show  did not have shows and no winner was announced. Also, Billie was the guest on After School Club this week. The links in the table, by the way, are links to my reviews for each win. I don't know if I ever said that. Show Champion: N/A MCountdown: Jennie "Mantra" Music Bank: The Wind "Hello, My First Love" Show! Music Core: aespa (Karina solo) "Up" (note: I couldn't find a performance for it from this music show, but here is another performance of it.) Inkigayo: N/A ASC Performance: Billie The Show: N/A

Song Review:: Rosé (BLACKPINK): rosie- APT.

Release date: 2024 December 06 Album tracklist:  number one girl ,  3am, two years, toxic till the end , drinks or coffee,    APT. , gameboy, stay a little loner, not the same, call it the end, too bad for us, dance all night Album runtime: 36 minutes  If this ends up being on the tracklist for the album (congrats to her on that, by the way!), then I'll edit and fix the information part directly above this paragraph. Without the tracklist, I can't be sure because there could be information I've missed. It's entirely possible because I do pay attention to Moon Jong Up and B.A.P, and I still  missed the information on the pre-release. But it's fine. Fixing this post won't be that hard.  I said it on Jennie's single , and didn't mention it on Lisa's  because I had no way of knowing that would be a significant thing to say, but I find it interesting that three of the four members of BLACKPINK have now dropped singles in the last month, where the sing...
