Song Review:: KOYOTE: Call Me

Image
  Release date: 2025 August 6 Album tracklist: Call Me , Call Me (Inst.) Album runtime: 7 minutes  Wow, we're just rocking it with the first gen comebacks right now aren't we? First BoA, now KOYOTE. I've actually done one of their songs as a BBS post  where you can find a quick little summary of the rather wild history of the group, but they're one of the oldest, still active co-ed groups to come out of K-Pop. And they're just fun. One of them just got married last year, so we say congrats!  This instrumental sounds like it's taken straight out of the techno 80s, or roughly 2009-2013 in K-Pop. High energy. High synth. Relentlessly pounding. I could use this for combat BGM during D&D if I mixed it with something softer to occasionally break up the sound and make it so my players won't want to kill me for the constant, overstimulating sound. Well, unless the combat lasts less than fifteen minutes. This does also mean that I'm going to guess the song as...

Battle of the B-Sides:: KOYOTE: 웃자 (Let's Laugh)

 Okay, so, Koyote is a co-ed group that originally debuted in 1998, and since has had line-up changes like they're one of the Doctors. The current line-up is Kim Jongim, Shinji, and Bbaekga. Also, I just learned that they did a Killing Voice a year and a half ago (2023) so I recommend you all go check that out. They're there to have fun, and also sing. First gen idols are just built different, you guys. Also also, if you look into their history, there's a really good reason for all the line-up changes. It's a miracle the group has made it this long, even with these members, because it has just been one thing after another, so I'm really happy that we have a current line-up that is stable, long-lasting, and a lot less problematic. And I know I said on the review for Four Seasons  that I'd be doing a GH post for this group, and I still intend to do so (so let me know if there's a title track you really like), but I'm doing one of these instead. 웃자 comes f...

Song Reviews:: KOYOTE: Four Seasons

Image
  Release date: 2024 November 04 Album tracklist:  Four Seasons , Four Seasons(Inst.) Album runtime: 7 minutes  I was looking at some first gen K-Pop groups and found out that this one is both still active, and I missed doing a review for this song when it was released. Possibly because there are so many K-Pop groups that it's just not feasible for me to get all the names memorized yet. Also, excitingly, Koyote is a co-ed group, so this should be fun. Koyote is a trio which debuted in 1998, and unlike most groups now, has had multiple line-up changes, as a lot of the older groups had. Of the three current members, only Shin Ji is an original member, with Jong Min joining in 2000 and the maknae, Bbaek Ga, joining in 2004. I'm not kidding. If you want a look at what feels like a lawless time, look into the original K-Pop groups. There are some absolutely wild stories going on with them. They're on average less pearl-clutching-worthy as the sordid tales from the American hai...
