Song Review:: Junhee (A.C.E) - Supernova {Pre-Debut}

Image
Release date: 2025 August 14 Album tracklist: Supernova Album runtime: 2 minutes  MY MAN, JUNHEE. Y'all, I have been counting down the days  until this was released. I found out about it because of his absolutely phenomenal cover of Your Idol  from Kpop Demon Hunters  (I'll drop the video at the bottom of this review because it is so amazingly done and the amount I refuse to shut up about that cover should alarm me, but you know how much I don't care? Not at all, actually.) This will be his solo debut, but I think this is a pre-release. And, like, he and the other members leave Beat Interactive. He founds a company to house A.C.E. He starts prepping this. He takes like a week to drop the cover and attracts so much attention that people who have never heard of the group are now listening to them. Yes. My man. I'd apologize for the blatant favoritism right now, but could not be bothered to even pretend to care. I am deeply disappointed by the song length though.  ...

Song Review:: A.C.E: The Late Regret

Image
Release date: 2024 December 22 Album tracklist: The Late Regret , The Late Regret - Eng Version Album runtime: 9 minutes  New A.C.E song! I swear, they put out a single at least once a month and sometimes more like every three weeks or so. I'm not currently complaining about it, although I am beginning to be worried for them a little. I hope they're taking care of themselves because this is an unsustainable pace, but at the same time, even with that worry, I'm so excited every time, because I know what kind of voices those lunatics (said with all the love in the world, please refer to their recent attendance on After School Club  so you know what I mean if you're unfamiliar with their personalities) have. And this is almost four and a half minutes of their voices. Full group of potentially main vocalists.  I'm melting over this song. Even if you normally listen to it at the end, go listen first because you absolutely should not be sleeping on this song and I want yo...

Music Show Wins: Week of 12/04 - 12/10

Image
  WayV absolutely dominated this week. Well done. MCountdown , the same as the past month or so, has not had a showing, yet again. Show! Music Core and Inkigayo joined them in that, so we only had three possible wins this week, and WayV got all three! Good for them. A.C.E returned to ASC as a full group for the first time in a while now that they're all finished with their enlistments. They brought the easy version of the dance challenge for the hosts, which Aron was grateful for. They're goofballs. Show Champion: WayV "Frequency (Korean Version)" MCountdown: N/A Music Bank: N/A Show! Music Core: WayV "Frequency (Korean Version)" (note: this is from their 20241130 performance) Inkigayo: N/A ASC Performance: A.C.E "PINATA"   (note: the MC challenge starts at 12:08 this time around, although if you want unadulterated chaos, you'll also want to watch the segment at 30:51, clothes go flying) (also note: because they're not releasing the perfor...

Greatest Hits:: A.C.E: SAVAGE

Image
 Did I review two A.C.E songs in the same period? Yes. But this one was a request against some Savage  slander my Choice friend saw online, and there's absolutely no way I'm going to turn down a chance for an A.C.E song. Their voices are beyond incredible. I need them to come back here so I can go see them and get more time listening to those gorgeous, gorgeous voices. In the meantime, I've got their discography and the plethora of covers they've done over the last seven years. Group : A.C.E (Adventure Calling Emotions) Debut Date : 2017 May 23 Company : BEAT Interactive Status : Active Album : UNDER COVER : THE MAD SQUAD Song :  SAVAGE Release Date : 2019 October 29 This was one of the songs that made me fall in love with the group at KCON LA this year! The amount of energy and power that just radiates off of this group is alarmingly impressive. I just want you all to know this. I'll come back to this in a moment. The comments on that music video are absolutely hil...

Song Review:: A.C.E: PINATA- PINATA

Image
Release date: 2024 November 20 Album tracklist: Intro: Recuerda, Recuerda; PINATA ; PINATA - English version; PINATA (Inst.) Album runtime: 3 minutes  I have been waiting for this for a while. Will I ever shut up about their voices? No. And in fact I went down an A.C.E rabbit hole last night because my Choice friend sent me a reel of one of them doing a Beautiful Things  cover and didn't emerge for almost an hour even though I was supposed to be doing a review. Not that I was having a hard time with the review. I'm just always happy to listen to them and will easily get distracted by their. Also, the concept photos for this single? Wow. I'm not just saying that because that's one of their names. And I fully have to plug Intro  because, again, I'm not saying he specifically needs to be mentioned, but wow . Their dancing is incredible. Top tier.  My Choice friend also requested Savage  be covered as a GH post, so expect that by the end of the week. Piñata ...

September 2024 Wrap Up: We'll Meet Again, Don't Know Where, Don't Know When

Image
 The official start of this little music review blog! I'm proud of it. And, again, thank you for everyone who has read even a single post so far, even if you aren't reading this one. I am simply happy and grateful and will endeavor to continue this honesty with love and recognition of the hard work of the artists. And for the one person who seems to be reading every single one, thank you and I love you. You make my morning every day. September of 2024 saw a couple of debuts, a re-debut, and some comebacks I was very much looking forward to, as well as some I would have been looking forward to had I been listening to the group/artist already. The ones I personally was emotionally invested are as follows: Vahn (NINE.i): They were the first group I saw in person, and the reason I watched Boy's Planet, after the fact of course because I didn't get into K-Pop until after ZB1 had already debuted. I love their voices, and I have yet to run into a song I didn't like by them...

Song Review:: A.C.E.: Just Better

Image
Release date: 2024 September 28 Album tracklist: Just Better , Just Better (Inst.) Album runtime: 6 minutes  We got two singles this month! I put off doing this review because the last time I did one, I got the Jeonghan news. I'm aware that I was subconsciously trying to avoid the risk of more bad news because I absolutely am superstitious, but I attribute at least part of that to the fact that I've been an athlete since I was five and almost every athlete I've ever known has been weirdly superstitious. Except Jack. He didn't have any weird, little rituals. But, this is A.C.E. They have incredible voices and they deserve so much more recognition than they have. So here I am. And this is an English track! Not only is this an English track, but it reminds me of Avril Lavigne, specifically of Girlfriend  and Sk8er Boi . Just Better is a less aggressive version of that. I'm also hearing strong shades of Teenage Dirtbag  and I'm Just a Kid  in the instrumentals, so i...

Song Review:: A.C.E.: Anymore

Image
Release date: 2024 September 11 Album tracklist:  Anymore , Anymore - sped up, Anymore - instrumental, Anymore - Pop Ballad Remix, Anymore - Emo Remix, Anymore - Acoustic hiphop Remix Album runtime: 16 minutes  I knew about A.C.E. from one of my other multifandom friends, and then I watched Build Up because Eunkwang, Baekho, and Solar were judges. I found out one of the A.C.E. members was on Build Up, which made me start rooting for him on principle because my friend loves the group. And then I saw them at KCon LA, and my mouth was hanging open, such was my surprise at how freaking amazing their vocals are. The entire group. I'm still in awe a month later. They need to come back to the US so I can go see them. An entire concert? Swoon. They need more fans. Literally, as soon as I heard their voices, I became a fan of them, and I know these reviews don't sound like it, but I am incredibly  picky about the groups I would claim being in the fandom for. So as soon as they ann...
