Song Review:: Bang Yedam (Treasure): Like Yesterday

 Bang Yedam has quite the pedigree, it seems. I also struggled with the decision or not to put Treasure in the review title, because I have typically been doing that, but he voluntarily left the group. And I didn't add 2PM to Jay Park. I think I'm trying to figure out what my rules are concerning members leaving a still active group. There will be a couple of artists that I absolutely will be attaching their group to them if they ever put out music again though. So for now, maybe I'll just attach Treasure in the tags. If I figure out my rules, I'll come back and align this one up with what I decide. Also, I am a huge fan of that run time. Well done, producer Yedam.

This adorably sounds fairytale-esque. This isn't even like a rom-com, which it absolutely could belong to. This sounds like a song that belongs in the ending credits of a Disney fairytale, especially from the 2010s releases. Yes, there's a steady beat, but I'd hardly call it firm or aggressive. There's a gentleness to the instrumentals, with a guitar that has brief moments where it's strummed, but for the most part, those strings are plucked. I'm pretty sure there's a piano in there too, and the two instruments swap which gets the melody of the accompaniment, like a very delicate dance between the two. 

I have no idea what this man's range is like because it doesn't matter here. His voice is here to be a devoted-beyond-all-else hug, enough to soften the heart of even the most cynical person. It's the kind of voice you fall in love with. No fancy belts or high notes here; the song doesn't need or want them. Contentment, soft celebration. He has an absolute beautiful voice. Alternatively, it could be a 90s ballad, as some of the vocal runs he does sound like they belong in a ballad by *NSYNC or the Backstreet Boys. 

The music video is beautiful and simple. No gimmicks. No effects. Just a man and a couch/chair and his voice. Simple.

Halloween Spookening: 2024 Edition

 I love Halloween. It's been my favorite holiday for literally my entire life. I have loved Halloween longer than Sangyeon of The Boyz has been alive, barely because my first Halloween was a couple of days before he was born, but according to my mother, even at the age of not-quite one years old, I have loved it. She dressed me up as a San Francisco 49ers cheerleader. I have pictures.  One of the most important things, then, is finding music that matches the Month of Spookening and horror.      Much like a recipe blog, this K-Pop review blog depends on the path leading me to where I am at today to dictate my tastes and how I perceive the world. Greatest Hits:: Taeyeon (Girls' Generation): INVU

 Last of the girl group submissions for the moment, then I get to move on to some of the boy groups, but it's not just boy groups. There's a co-ed submission in there, which is such a yay from me. I'm excited for that. But! I'm also very excited for this, because she is a second gen heavy weight, reigning champion of an artist. Award-winning. Best-selling. Chart topping. And that's just her as a soloist, that's not even counting the years before that as the leader of Girls' Generation, which is one of the most well-known groups to come out of K-Pop. I admire her a lot, as you can tell, and I also think she's really cool. And funny. I don't know if she's generally known for her humor, but I think she's hilarious. She's also fairly out-spoken which is something else that I admire about her, but the group turns eighteen this year. But by the time this gets published, The CrewOne will have been on ASC, which means that I have to follow my rules. For the uninitiated, The CrewOne was a team put together for Ace of Ace  consisting of the fourth gen boy groups ATBO and JUST B. Apparently disbandment was in their future before the two groups got put together, which is completely ridiculous as JUST B debuted in 2021 and ATBO debuted in 2022.  Even though I desperately want to do nothing but talk about my absolute ult and first group, the unfortunate reality I face every time I have to pick a song for either a GH or a BBS post, and it's one that everyone who is a fan of a disbanded group is aware of, is that until and unless they get back together after their enlistments, NU'EST songs are a finite resource. If I go hog wild on them, I will run out of them quickly. So, really, I should save them for special occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries. March 2025 Wrap-Up: It's Alive!!!!!!

 This was a distressing and emotional month for me, which is why it's taken me this long to get this one out. But! I think I'm finally enough caught up now that I feel comfortable with this being a comprehensive post for the month. Starting off with the debuts, I actually covered quite a few of them, which pleases me. Hoshi and Woozi debuted as a subunit of Seventeen. I also covered In A Minute , KiiiKiii , NewBeat , and RE:WIND . Those are all the links to the debuts I covered. Obviously, I'm ecstatic over the HxW even though I know very well what it means, and equally distraught over the song length problem. Song Review:: IU: A flower bookmark, Pt. 3- Never Ending Story

Music Show Wins:: Week of 01/29 - 02/04

What did I say in the review (which you can refer back to in the link in the graph directly below this) for Minnie? I said that I thought HER  would get two wins and we're already halfway there. Nice. I'm still waiting for Show Champion and The Show to resume, because when one of the others, like, say, Show! Music Core , doesn't have a winner, that decreases the number of potential first place wins for groups, and I know how important those are. On After School Club, we had KickFlip with their ASC debut, and despite the technical difficulties, it was absolutely precious watching them see the dance covers and the fan art that got submitted. How sweet for the rookies, especially since some of them were trainees longer than some groups are together full stop.
