Greatest Hits:: B.A.P: Feel So Good

We're heading back to 2016 for this one, and that album cover is so unlike anything else they put out that obviously I had to go with this title track. I like the bright colors and the cheer and the amount of fun there.

And if you want goofy, that music video is unrepentantly so. This song was apparently them taking a break from their dark songs, which, as much as I like dark songs, I really, really love goofy ones just as much.

Feel So Good is the third track on their fifth mini album and has quite the list of contributors to the writing of this song. First up, Team One Sound has spent a lot of time with Super Junior Songs. CR Kim, on the other hand, wrote for Ailee, SF9, TWICE, MAMAMOO, ASTRO, and DRIPPIN. Bang Yongguk, member of the group in question, has written a lot of B.A.P and his own songs, but there's a specific JustB song that definitely catches my attention (Damage, I really love that song) and a specific group that, if there was a sort of rival group they debuted with, it would be VIXX for sharing a similar sound space (and I'm so delighted that he helped write a VIXX song, I can't quite express it). Lucas Lee apparently only has this song on his discography. Danny Majic has worked with predominately western artists but some notable K-Pop artists are Jimin and 2PM (and my probably second favorite song by them to boot).

You know what? I feel like some screenshots are in order because no one should miss out on these moments. For all the fans out there, in case you happen to have forgotten, this was the one where Zelo had the rainbow pigeon poop hair. Which, you will be reminded of shortly.

I know that I have the music video right there, but there may be some people who wait until the end to watch the music video.

Frankly, just about every moment in this music video was worthy of being screenshot and deciding where to grab them was a little difficult. Their expressions are amazing. Their costumes are interesting. I swear that all of them at one point or another are wearing stripes in this music video. Their antics are hilarious.

We're starting this off with something that made me smile. Their knees are all at different angles. Their heads are looking in random directions. Why do some have their hands in their pockets and others do not? But you know the best part? This is the least distracting thing you all are going to see in this post.

Look at that smile. That's pure joy. And in the background, that's fierce concentration.

Why?

Again, we don't have a whole lot of full synchronization. But the dancing is so delightful that I just cannot bring myself to care other than to smile fondly.

We're not technically committing any crimes yet, so is this actually a B.A.P music video? They're just having fun and being hardcore judged by those young women.

The choreography here is cool. Their expressions are better. And I want to know what's going on with those three in the background.

Yes, let's kidnap Shopping Cart Lad while other phones are definitely recording the footage.

I'm not going to bother asking what this is. This is the calmest thing that happens at this location.

Could I have gotten a screenshot of them in the pyramid? Yes. But why bother when they're doing things like this?

Again, the sheer, unadulterated joy on his face. And there's just a lot happening.

Reaping what he has sown.

When did the rest of them end up on the rack? Pun intended. I thought it was clever based on that expression he's got.

Ah, here's the crime I was promised by a comment on another video. B.A.P can't have a music video without committing a crime. And this one is theft and a mugging? Possibly?

...Iconic.

Switching it up I see with the snazzy suits. Nice.

Two different things happening right now. We've got the rap battle in the front, and a party going on in the back.

Again, I'm not sure what they're doing in the back. But the expressions up front are 100% priceless.

This is one of exactly two segments in black-and-white. Do you see the celebration and joy here?

The song is fun. It's bright. It's happy. The music video is an absolute delight, and I desperately need more people to see them having fun like this. The comments section is full of love for Yongguk's visuals and hilarity, and the overwhelming love and loyalty in the comment section could warm even the hardest of hearts, because these were the fans who stayed during their hiatus, and the new ones who joined because of how amazing the group is.

Is this B.A.P at their best? It's not their main concept, so I'd have to say no. But what it is is something so unbelievably cheery and fun-loving that it really doesn't matter what their concept is. Frankly, the entire album is incredible, and I love seeing them put on this concept.

And now for the actual performances. I've yapped quite a bit about the glorious music video, but the performances is where it's at. First up, we've got a Music Bank performance. There's one member who is not wearing jeans for this, and instead he's in a robin's egg blue suit that reminds me of something out of the 70s, but with skinny jeans style. This doesn't make him stand out at all. I jest, because it's such a bright color and Himchan standing out like that is so amusing to me. The members are all smiles though, which is very good to see considering this is post-lawsuit. There's a lightness to them that makes me smile to see as they're hopping around on stage with their microphones and their saturated, but not necessarily bright, colors for their costuming.

But you want to know what I see that tells me that they're genuinely enjoying this song? They're singing along when it's not their part. That's also likely the reason why almost all of them but one have a hand mic, but I cannot express to you how much I absolutely love it when members sing along when it isn't their part. It tells me that they're enjoying the song, they're enjoying performing it, and that they're enjoying themselves in general.

I've got a soft spot for Inkigayo stages, though I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm also, independently of that love, thinking that this particular stage is one of the cutest things. Their stylists understood the assignment, because they're all, with one exception, dressed like they could be out walking on the streets and it's so cheery and personable that you just want to vibe along. And I'm definitely going to talk about their choreography with the dance practice, so know that I'm not ignoring it, but I do have to say that it does look like Daehyun makes a mistake, but he doesn't draw attention to it and because he's the center and he leans into it, it looks intentional. Also, his ad-libs are in fact a work of beauty and his vibrato could make me fall in love.

But I also have to give a specific shout-out to Yongguk, who I recognize because he's got that gorgeous deep voice I love, because he aegyos shortly after Daehyun's possible mistake and it's adorable. Big bad leader being cute in the middle of their performance? Oh, be still my soul.

And now it's time for the really good stuff: the pure choreography. Well, mostly pure choreography. They're total goofballs in the beginning, and I love that loose, relaxed format. Zelo is also a goofball in the middle when he's doing pushups in tiny up against the mirror, but as the maknae, that is his right.

This is what we call fancy feet and they're so smooth about it. You can hear the shoes squeaking sometimes over the music, which adds a touch of humanizing to the performance. They aren't robots and tiny oddities are what make the performances feel lived in. The choreography itself helps with that because, as noted in the music video, they're not the most locked in and synchronized group for this song, but that's the point. This is a loose song, it's meant to be a loose song, and because there's an actual spot in the choreography for them to go rogue and do their own thing, it just...feels so good.

And, speaking of giant maknae Zelo, I highly recommend watching him. He's the one in all black with the short sleeves. Why should you pay attention to him specifically? Because at one point he gently twerks while Mr. Leader is doing his rap in front of him, the aforementioned push-ups, and the fact that he's straight up brushing his hair at one point. Absolutely beautiful. I love it.

Pure celebration choreography.

And then, just because it's available and I'm about 95% sure that this would be a great work-out song, if you wanted to learn the choreography, 1theK apparently held a dance cover competition back in the day and posted the choreography mirrored. My man Moon Jongup (who I affectionately call Moon as a nickname and he gets to be one of only a few of the artists who I give a nickname to) absolutely killed the performance this time. Also, his is one of two jackets that I want. So there's that.
