Song Review:: Eunkwang (BTOB) MARRY YOU (Original Soundtrack), Pt.4: Only One

 Apparently BTOB is just going to town on the OSTs right now. First Hyunsik, and now Eunkwang? Yes, please. I will never say no to them. 

A harmonica? Seriously? A harmonica? Wow, it's been a long, long time since I heard a song with a harmonica. This is the most, soothing, rustic set of instrumentals. I know there was a song I recently reviewed that I said scratched the country music itch, but nothing like what this one is doing. I'm practically going limp. That acoustic guitar is a thing of beauty. Violin. Acoustic guitar. Harmonic. Piano. This is just lovely and soothing. It also reminds me a lot of Animal Crossing, but that's likely because of the harmonica.

Don't mind me. Eunkwang's voice turned an incredible song into something that I'm one hundred percent adding to my "The Soothes" playlist. I likely would have before, but this cinched it so firmly, it's a Victorian corset. He's got moments where his voice actually mimics the harmonica a little, which is super cool to hear, but it just rolls through the song like a building thunderstorm. Who needs a hug? And the lyricism to the song! Even if you don't understand Korean, just the sound of the words is beautiful. But I threw the lyrics into Papago to get an idea for it, and, wow, if the Korean is even half as beautiful as that, it might make even me fall in love and I'm not a words of affirmation person. "Like the scent of flowers coming from the breeze/I always think about you/Without realizing it, the happiness of you/It makes me laugh." But, of course the Korean is going to be more beautiful because that's the original language. The writers did an incredible job, and they or the producers paired the song with the perfect voice.

You know, I was sitting here going "Yup, pretty standard romcom kdrama stuff." And then the scars made me perk up my metaphorical ears. And you know who is in this show? Ju-ne from iKON! I didn't even get the music video watched all the way through before I was pausing to look this up! Anyway, the whole thing is adorable and sweet. I've got a couple of people in mind that might really enjoy what this looks like it will be.

 We're heading back to 2016 for this one, and that album cover is so unlike anything else they put out that obviously I had to go with this title track. I like the bright colors and the cheer and the amount of fun there.  And if you want goofy, that music video is unrepentantly so. Apparently the random wheel generator likes the fourth generation groups at the moment, which I'm fine with because eventually I'll get to do older groups and that's something I'm very excited about. But, in the meantime, we get a group that I initially became interested in because I really enjoyed watching them dance on Queendom 2. Do I actually know much about them? Nope. But I do know that they have a lot of subunits, like tripleS, and are currently promoting under various subunits and/or as soloists. Release date: 2024 November 15 Album tracklist:  Running Wild ,  I'll Be There , Another Level, Until I Reach You, Heart on the Window , In Longing Album runtime: 17 minutes  This wasn't my first post for the day solely because I wanted to make sure that whatever I said for the last post of yesterday's didn't influence my feelings on this song too much, so I gave my self a buffer. Also, I didn't find out until I woke up that BigHit also had released the music video at least while I was still awake, so that's something I'll keep track of in the future. Happy solo debut, Jin! Congrats! I hope everything goes well.  My first BBS request! I just saw some of the memes being made about their performance and the amount of space between Wendy and Jin, and I just have to say that they're hilarious and the amount of trolling I'm seeing from the fans gives me life. The timing is actually really helpful for me to get into fan mindset. This request comes from a user on Reddit, who simply said there was too much, they were obsessed, and then linked me to an appreciation post they'd done. This is what I like to see, and it gave me a very good place to start: Jin and Wendy's voices. As a side note, Jin really does have the perfect trot voice. This isn't even in that genre or anywhere approaching it, but that honestly doesn't change this fact about him. It's the pinging and clanging of metal that makes me smile fondly, which is likely due to the fact that while I was watching the movie Looper  with commentary (because that's what I, a movie nerd, do in my spare time), they were talking about making the music and going out and recording in a parking garage, I think, sounds while banging different bits of metal together to get the specific sounds that Rian Johnson, the director, wanted with the music. It's a little weird seeing names I actually recognize in the debut list. Unlike ZEROBASEONE and Kep1er, their survival show siblings under WAKEONE, izna has a standard contract so, assuming something weird doesn't happen, they should be around for more than a few years. And, because they're a newly debuted group, I get to take a look at their ages in slight trepidation because while I remember that there were some fairly young contestants, I don't remember them making it to the end. But I'm happy to report that they barely squeak by with the majority of age and the maknae turning seventeen pretty soon. Her birthday is in January. The runtime physically pains me though. Song Review:: Treasure: Last Night

Release date: 2024 December 05 Album tracklist: Last Night Album runtime: 3 minutes Well, we just got some news on the near future of the group. It's nice that the company remembered that they existed and decided to get them out of the pasture where they'd been retired. I kind of feel like they weren't even locked in the basement. But! YGE needed them, and so they've been returned to work.  This song reminds me so much of Good Time  by Owl City. It's not even funny. I was sitting here for five minutes humming until I could recall lyrics and then one short search later, and I got the song I was thinking of. The instrumentals here are so similar. I'm also reminded of early 00s Disney Channel star pop or late 00s boy band pop with how very bright this song is. The grungy bass popping in to accompany the rapping is a good change of pace within the song, getting it just a little dark and messy to sully the brightness of the rest of the instrumentals.
