Every tick that marks off something makes us closer to the 96z enlistments. So while I'm very, very excited for this particular song because I love BSS and their particular brand of cheerful chaos, that awareness sits on my shoulder and glares at me. But, as long as it isn't in the vicinity of sad, I'll likely be fine listening to it. The Hoshi x Woozi subunit coming up shortly may be a different story, but that's a problem for Future Fangirl to worry about. Also, this is my 300th post review and I put off posting the special post to make BSS my 300th post. How many times can I say the word post?
As expected, high energy and happy. There's the facsimile of audience participation clapping in the instrumentals, which makes it better because there's no pressure to clap, but you're absolutely invited to. The instrumentals for this song remind me a lot of the Seventeen 97z line song HEY BUDDY, and that's entertaining to me because it's originally by the 97z (with DK), but I know it best from the Caratland performance where the 96z (with Hoshi) did it. We have high energy. We have a jazzy, big band sound. The piano feels like it's just playing, which is a great thing to be hearing I'm just going to call it now. If this doesn't end up being one of my top songs for the year both in terms of how much I love it and how much I listen to it, which is a big claim to make considering we just entered the second week of the year, I'm going to be very surprised. So, that's where I'm at right now. And also, this song feels so long even though it's only two and a half minutes. I'm not sure I'd have the energy for anything longer.
They are almost scatting in this song, which brings so much joy to my soul, I can't quite describe it. "They call us BooSeokSoon!" What a way to start the song. It's got the same energy as "SHINee's back!" or "BTOB back again". Hoshi is just spending his time putting a growl to his voice every couple of lines, which would be a problem if I hadn't accepted that in my mental Seventeen ranking he and Woozi were matched up to the Tier 1 members now. Like, what is that, Hoshi? The song is comfortably within the ranges of Seungkwan and DK, which flings the energy to the stratosphere, and the whispering chanting that turns into a shouting chanting slaps the song with rocket fuel to keep it going. I have a feeling that the stages for CBZ are going to be chaotic affairs that turn whatever event they're performed at BSS's own personality party, the way Fighting turned everything into BSS's own concert because those three are having so much fun that anyone listening or present will have no choice but to join this party as well.
Hold on. I know my Korean isn't great, but is the title of the song in Korean "jeans"???
...
Yeah, okay. I think I love this more than I have words for. Carry on.
I'm going to end up learning at least some of the choreo for this song as well. It's fine. I'm just not sure how I'm going to continue on with my day after having watched the music video, but it's the unfortunate dichotomy of having to work to do the things I want to do. It's a party featuring BooSeokSoon and I want to join in. Also, their stylists? A+. And shout out to the make-up artists specifically because as much as I like a man in jeans, their make-up artists did such a good job accentuating those jawlines that it looks like you could cut glass on them.
