Song Review:: GOT7: WINTER HEPTAGON- PYTHON

 This is their first full group comeback post-military, right? And also their first major comeback after leaving JYPE? In both cases, I'm fully supportive of this. Also, congrats to GOT7 for their eleventh anniversary a few days ago! Whoo!

There's a good average runtime, which I'm here for, but the length of the title track is something I am not.

So I didn't have creepy doll vibes from a boy group on my 2025 K-Pop Bingo sheet, but here we are! I appreciate that a boy group is going to pull out that particular sound. It's one of my favorites, and I really want to hear it more often. Nice skittering beat that compliments and strengthens the creepy doll without making that part overpowering. It's a delicate balance that I do think was achieved. This hits my brain in a very good way. 

They pack a lot into those two and a half minutes, but it's so short that I feel like this is only a sample of what they can do. I love whichever vocalist is in the beginning with the staccato, and then that leads into a rap section. They're clearly showing off how well they can craft a song, and it's impressive, but it could have been so much cooler if it was longer, cooler and less repetitive. Still, I'm very much enjoying this despite those issues.

This music video is equal parts ethereal and futuristic, and it's a fascinating combination to be seeing. You kind of forget how short the song is. Also, there is a surprising amount of English that I did not catch on earlier listens. Yes, the snow is on brand for an album called "WINTER HEPTAGON," but it's the whole revival thing the music video has got going on that prevents it from simply being an on the nose reference. I'm also reminded a lot of Narnia and the White Witch, so do with that information as you will.

 I love when I get suggestions for groups that I've heard of but haven't actively listened to. I know that f(x) has several songs that are on the list of K-Pop influential songs that pretty much everyone should be familiar with, if they don't know  them. I don't think this is one of them, because this is a b-side, but I could also be wrong. Which is why I like being able to dig into the albums and the songs a little bit. So, this comes from their second studio album Pink Tape, released in 2013, which won a bonsaeng in 2014 at the GDAs, and hit number 1 on multiple music charts worldwide. One of the songs on the album was originally supposed to be Ariana Grande's song, and f(x) got it instead. So that's pretty cool. And yet, here we are to my surprise that I don't just get to do one GFRIEND song, I get to do two, one now and one later. It fills me with hope for certain other things, I'm not going to lie. But. Song Review:: Onew (SHINee): Connection- Winner

Especially so close to the last one. Right now, I fully trust that he isn't overworking himself, partially because I trust him to know his limits as a seventeen-year idol, and partially because I trust his new company. The CEO's comments about selling the funeral wreaths they've been sent gives me life, and I'm also genuinely delighted that Onew is getting to do music he wants to do and exploring so much. This is the fourth music video to drop from it, which is almost more than some mini albums have tracks, and is part of the reason why I prefer the longer albums, even if there's an increased wait for them. I've also avoided listening to too much of the album because of the maknae's age. Not cool when they've been out for over a year and she is currently fifteen. December 2024 Wrap Up: 'Tis the Season

It feels very weird to be in a little bit more of a "celebratory" tone given what's happened this month, and I'm caught between wanting normalcy and respecting my pattern, and wanting to be reverent. Which is part of why the posts slowed down a lot toward at the end there. Still! There were things to celebrate, like a few debuts! NINE.i had their Japanese debut ! I can't believe they turn three next March! I only covered one other debut, for Irubin, formerly of 1TEAM . Debuts, I didn't cover include Nakwon , T:EV , Dáff , Wish (formerly of ViV) , A20 MAY (a Chinese girl group, but you may have an interest there as well), Lee Gwangseok (a former Build Up contestant) , and KYSB . Most of these debuts were for soloists; only two were for groups. Although finding out that ViV is one of the first groups to disband that debuted this year is also rather disheartening. Song Review:: BSS (Seventeen): Teleparty- CBZ (Prime Time)

So while I'm very, very excited for this particular song because I love BSS and their particular brand of cheerful chaos, that awareness sits on my shoulder and glares at me. But, as long as it isn't in the vicinity of sad, I'll likely be fine listening to it. The Hoshi x Woozi subunit coming up shortly may be a different story, but that's a problem for Future Fangirl to worry about.  This one was recommended to me over on Threads, which delights me for a couple of reasons. Firstly, because small groups like this give me life, and I desperately want to shout about them from the rooftops (the void of the internet will do as I don't want a noise complaint). Second, the user actually gave me two recommendations, their debut song and their most recent release. Thirdly, because when I looked them up after getting which was the group name and which was the fandom name, I found out they were all adults at debut, even starting with their earlier Japan activities. and that's something I will always support.  This comes from my submission form, and it's the first one I'm doing from there! Whoo! I was going to put this off a little because I just did a 2012 debut for a Battle of the B-Sides post, but oh, well! I have a feeling that this one isn't like that song either, so I'm less worried about doing too much of the same. Variety, yes, but I can do what I want and the few songs I've already heard of theirs ( Chained Up is in many of my playlists) I've liked already. How much of that is because I know they're in the 2012 debut club, which automatically enters them into my category of groups I look upon favorably, I don't know. But I do know that even without that, what I've heard is very good. I've also heard some interesting and hilarious things about the group, and am curious to know if they're true or not. But! Release date: 2025 January 17 Album tracklist:  5AM , 5AM (Instrumental) Album runtime: 6 minutes  I know exactly one (former) member of a group with this name, but given that whatever happened, it didn't seem to happen on good terms, I'm not going to mention the group or add the group to the title if this is indeed him. And it is him. So I will take my cues from the group. He debuted as a soloist back in 2021 at the ripe age of 24 and is currently under SME.  My heart wants to say this is an acoustic guitar, but there are some very much electric guitar characteristics when the pick slides on the strings rather than what the acoustic guitar does. I could be wrong though. In other news, the instrumentals remind me of the soundtrack to Final Fantasy XV,  specifically either in the camp music or in one of the city/town locations, and that's something I really like because I like how laid back and cozy it is.
