MY BOY WUMUTI IS DEBUTING IN THIS GROUP?! That's really all I need to know, but other people might need some more information, like the maknae turning nineteen next month, or only one of the four not being on Boys Planet, or only one of the four being Korean, or them debuting with a genderless concept, which is a bold move in the culture. Wumuti serves as leader and producer of the group, and I'm so proud of him.
Ah, we get the instrumentals. Thank you for whoever made that decision. I don't know if you can use literary categories to describe music, but if you can, this is such a steampunk song, it's not even funny, and it features some "old tomey" crackling which definitely helps to contribute to the vibes with the clock ticking. I'm actually very pleased with what I'm hearing, and it's so unlike anything else I've been hearing in the last little bit. This is good.
So as it turns out, as much as I like the girl group with songs that feel like boy group songs, I also like the boy groups doing songs that feel like girl group songs. I could definitely see MAMAMOO doing a song like this, which is an incredibly high compliment considering how much I love MAMAMOO. The singers are singing. The vibratos are present and ready for duty. Their voices are genuinely beautiful here. It's a yes from me.
This music video feels like a Taemin music video. The choreography feels like Taemin choreography. And now that I think about it, the vocals have Taemin qualities. Well, there are worse idols to emulate than the maknae of heavyweight superstars SHINee, who I swear half the industry looks up to, and powerhouse on his own. I love the chess motif and the styling. This is a very pretty and dark music video.
