Song Review:: ZEROBASEONE: BLUE PARADISE- BLUE

  • Release date: 2025 February 24

  • Album tracklist: BLUE, Devil Game, Doctor! Doctor!, Out of Love, Step Back, Cruel

  • Album runtime: 17 minutes

Okay, I think I'm getting closer to being caught up, so this is good. However, I think I may also be developing a little bit of a migraine, which isn't ideal for anyone. But, I've been looking forward to this album since Doctor! Doctor! came out, even if I couldn't remember precisely when. And also, I believe one of the members just had a birthday. Or the maknae graduated. Or both things happened. The album runtime is a little bit uncomfy for me, though.

There's another song that I'm reminded of. It's from a girl group. It's a little bit older, but still recent. Probably last five years or so. Ah, well. It'll come to me eventually.

I'm a little fascinated by the difference between the instrumentals and vocals. I don't know why, but it sounds like a mashup with two songs playing at the same time. And the thing is, the song starts off with such a melancholy sound that I had a couple of seconds to worry that this was actually a b-side and one of the others was the title track. But this is fascinatingly done.

On the vocals side, this song reminds me a lot of a festival song. There aren't any rapping sections, that I can hear, so that means everyone gets to be vocalists, and they sound so very good together. I've discovered a slight problem in that-

(I REMEMBERED THE SONG "BOP BOP" BY VIVIZ. You may carry on with your lives.)

-this song is at exactly the right I don't know what, but it's hitting my brain perfectly to send me to sleep. I've dozed off twice trying to write this. I'm not counting it as a bad thing for the song, for the record. It just joins a select number of songs that manage to settle my brain enough that even while not trying to go to sleep to it, it's putting me to sleep. I think I've only found like two, maybe three others that do this in the eight months or so since I started writing these. This is a good song.

Storyline. Yes. And also, this is a weird music video, but I'm so okay with this that it's not funny. This is also an interesting song given that I think their contracts are up this year. In that context, it seems to be an affirmation that they're staying together, but none of the members have credits writing. Kenzie does though. Love Kenzie. And it's really a beautiful music video. Very bright. Very cheerful. It's practically bubbling over with love.
