Wow, we're just rocking it with the first gen comebacks right now aren't we? First BoA, now KOYOTE. I've actually done one of their songs as a BBS post where you can find a quick little summary of the rather wild history of the group, but they're one of the oldest, still active co-ed groups to come out of K-Pop. And they're just fun. One of them just got married last year, so we say congrats!
This instrumental sounds like it's taken straight out of the techno 80s, or roughly 2009-2013 in K-Pop. High energy. High synth. Relentlessly pounding. I could use this for combat BGM during D&D if I mixed it with something softer to occasionally break up the sound and make it so my players won't want to kill me for the constant, overstimulating sound. Well, unless the combat lasts less than fifteen minutes. This does also mean that I'm going to guess the song as a whole is going to be perfect for workout playlists. But even when the instrumental track is a little softer, it's still just so continual that you really don't get a chance to breathe.
The 80s vibes have continued. It's also so first gen K-Pop that I have to keep eyeing the release date to remind myself that no, this did not come out in 1998. I'm a little bit absorbed by how classic this sounds. And 1998 was really only 27 years, so in the grand scheme of music, it was barely a blip ago. Considering the age of K-Pop as is generally defined, this sound is almost as old as you can get. I also had to doublecheck that this is not a Sechskies song, but it's fine. I'm a little surprised at the balance between vocals and instrumentals because there are a lot of vocalless sections.
If the video quality was worse, stylistically, this could have come out of the 90s. It's a little weird and nonsensical. There's not a lot of choreography shown, but there is some. There's not a lot of a storyline either. It's just vibes, weird vibes. I dig it, though. It feels really familiar from when I was little.
