Congrats on the win! The funny thing about tripleS, and I hope one of them can get the help she needs when she's ready, is that at one point, I actually could have listened to the whole group, but then the new maknae got added. We are very much on Underage Protocol now. I can still listen to some of the subunits, thought, but I have to check each one to make sure I can. I was kind of hoping that this was a subunit, but it's the whole group, so yes, we are on Underage Protocol. Underage Protocol is my small way of protesting when companies debuting minors that are under sixteen, or debuting more than half of a group underage. If a group is on Underage Protocol, I won't listen to them until the entire group is eighteen. I give the songs a single listen each for instrumental and vocals, and then two at most watches for the music video. I'd rather do that limitation than not review these at all. Besides, I might find a song I really like that I wouldn't have heard otherwise. And this one is over three minutes long, and it's not even the longest one. This could be worse.
Ah, we're in the same flavor of instrumental as Ima by Seventeen, which is my second favorite of their songs. I've been talking about it a lot today. I'm now suspicious of what language this is in, but that will have to wait until I'm done with this section. It's that particularly bright rock sound with a strong piano element that can get a little bit intense but generally is an excellent driving force for the vocals without being too aggressive. The bridge softens and becomes a little more delicate, but doesn't cut the legs out from underneath the song, which I appreciate.
It is in fact in Korean, which delights me just a little bit more because most of the time when I hear this kind of song, it's in Japanese, and not that I particularly care what language a song is in, I don't want to learn Japanese right now. It's not on my list of things to do. I don't particularly like the breathy sound, but when the vocals strengthen up and are more supported, the group shows off that they have quite a few strong vocalists that will only get better as they mature and continue taking vocal lessons. The bridge is the only part where I don't mind it as much, because it matches the instrumental better, and then the ad-libs afterward are a great addition to the song. Whoever that is, she's got a very stable voice even she's going up into whistle tone. Color me impressed.
I also didn't manage to stop the track in time, so I got to hear a tiny bit of Type of Girl, and I'm very curious about it. But I'll have to wait.
Once again, I appreciate that the company makes sure that the music videos include who is singing what part in the subtitles. You know what? This music video almost has color. There's still a large amount of gray, white, and pastels that kind of overtake the costuming, but several of the sets and locations have vibrancy. I'm slightly concerned about live performances of this song, because it doesn't look like the ad-libs are fully given dedicated rest times so that the vocalists can actually hit those notes live. Which concerns me because if they're not singing live, it feels more like an inauthentic performance. Having said that, I'm not going to go into full-blown suspicion, because it does look like some of the ad-libs get dedicated rest times and we don't see all of the choreography. So there's a chance for it. But this is largely a vibes and visuals music video.
