May 2026 Wrap-Up: What Happens In Vegas

Image
 [Insert the upside down smiley face here] In all seriousness, I know I'm very late, but I think I got through most of the reviews I wanted to do and it's time to do this. Otherwise I'll just keep putting it off and end up having to write it in December so that I can write my year-end wrap-up. Like last year. We're trying to avoid the stress I put myself through in December again. And spoiler for the songs I was listening to this month, it was a lot of NU'EST, so I'm only going to include the one I listened to the most rather than the four that would be included. For once, my top NU'EST listen was not FACE.  Debut time! Debuts I covered: NAZE , YUHZ , HEART OF WOMAN , AND2BLE , and H//PE PRINCESS . Debuts I didn't cover: FLARE U . Soloists whose debut I did not cover: J.Seph (KARD) (note: this is actually a draft so this will likely be finished at some point so this will be edited when I do) and Gabee (JAESSBEE) .  Songs I was looking forward to: I.O.I-...

Song Review:: NAZE: NAZE- Pretty Pink Socks

Release date: 2026 May 04 Album tracklist: Pretty Pink Socks , People Talk , Awesome, Seoul Album runtime: 12 minutes   Do I have other songs I need to be doing? Always. Is this just a b-side? Yup. But they did just debut and that means they need all the attention that they can get, so with my small contribution, here we are. They are in the CIX/EPEX lineage, in case you missed my review of their debut song (link above), and we have an eighteen-year-old maknae. All is quiet on the western front, everyone. And this one is over three minutes, so I'm happy about this as well. Does this start a cappella? That's what we call a "Bold Choice". It's a very minimal instrumental through most of the song, but then it kicks up into more familiar territory. The interesting thing is that the instrumental doesn't feel like it matches the vocals very well on a structural level, which creates a dichotomy that forces you to pay attention because it doesn't do what it's ...

Music Show Wins:: Week of 05/13 - 05/19

 Triple Crown this week! Grand Slam (still not sure of the term) this week! Congrats to the rookies! For the After School Club re-run, YouTube actually gave me one I hadn't seen yet when I looked the show up. So you all get it. Kevin (singing voice of Mystery Saja) is absolutely adorable in this and the entire group is hilarious. Ep. 73 from 2014, featuring U-KISS! For The Show, I went with Wonho in 2022 with Eye On You. And I'm only giving you one extra stage this week, but that's for a debut in the form of NAZE! As always, the links in the spreadsheet go directly to my reviews and the link down below with ASC goes to the actual episode because the videos sometimes get a bit weird when I try to embed them. Enjoy the performances! Show Champion: Cortis "RedRed" MCountdown:  Cortis "RedRed" Music Bank:  Cortis "RedRed" Show! Song Review:: NAZE: NAZE- People Talk {Debut}

Image
Release date: 2026 May 04 Album tracklist:  Pretty Pink Socks , People Talk , Awesome, Seoul Album runtime: 12 minutes  I'm suddenly having deja vu, like I've already looked these guys up. Was it this group? Was it a different one? Well, regardless, these guys took a bit of the ol' ASTRO route and technically debuted as actors first in a drama and used that to introduce themselves. And I believe that they would have been CIX's younger brothers, if CIX hadn't recently been disbanded, and yes, I am totally fine about that. Why wouldn't I be? Disbanding right before military service. It's fine. Technically they're the grand-dongsaengs because of EPEX, so EPEX are the ones getting younger brothers. Anyway, I wish NAZE all the luck in the world. And their maknae is already eighteen, so we don't need to put them on Underage Protocol. Interesting choice for a debut song. I feel like more companies are debuting with a little bit more of a sultry, yearning so...
