Music Show Wins:: Week of 04/08 - 04/14

Image
  Y'all, I almost forgot today was Tuesday. We did not have a clean sweep this week, but we did have three Triple Crowns, which is a different, but equally impressive achievement. The group who achieved has, understandably, not been promoting on the music shows because they've started their world tour. The other artist got a first win for the song, and I hope she gets at least one more. For the After School Club re-run, I went with one that I covered and I have already shared, back in 2024. It's ep.649 with Billlie! I revisited some of the older episodes while I was sick this last week and I was reminded of how much I liked this one, even though I'm not as familiar with the group. For the The Show re-run, I went with CSR back in 2022. And for the two extra stages to compensate for the lack of stages by the winners this week, I went with the freshly debuted KEYVITUP and the goddess Hwasa.  As always, the links in the spreadsheet go to my reviews, and the link for ASC goe...

Song Review:: Billlie: cloud palace ~ false awakening- cloud palace

Image
Release date: 2026 January 27 Album track list:  cloud palace , cloud palace - Before moonset mix, cloud palace - Before moonrise mix Album runtime: 11 mi nutes  There are a couple of things I like about this group and that also amuse me. First, there are three (3) L's in their group name. Second, they often have a massive lack of capital letters in a lot of their song and album titles. Plus, even though I haven't heard a lot of their songs, the ones I have heard, I like. I'm just hesitant to get too into them because girl groups I really like...don't last too long. Still, I can peripherally listen to them when their songs pop up into my general playlists and I can't know too much about them. But I would like more of their songs to listen to. And look at that runtime! This is an instrumental that feels a bit jazzy mixed with trap. It could have been incredibly easy to put this song into something of more of an easy-listening genre, and they didn't. It starts off...

Halloween Spookening: 2025 Edition

Image
 It's the most wonderful time of the year!  I'm back with a new selection of Halloween themed or generally spooky songs for you all! Have I spent the year looking for new songs for my playlist? Yes. Yes, yes I have, so if you have anymore suggestions for me, give me the creepy doll songs, the predatory wolfy songs, the haunting and the eerie. I love my Halloween playlist and I listen to it all year long, but October is the official start of when I don't get weird looks from people for listening to it. I am so excited. I get to pull out my Halloween nail polish and the glow in the dark stickers. It's a good time to be me, and also hopefully you as well. So the Halloween recs for you for the year 2025 are: Welcome To The Other Side by DPR Ian (C-Clown) Yes, he's Australian, but he was in the K-Pop group C-Clown, which is one of my beloved 2012s, so I'm counting him. Also, this song is super spooky with dramatic strings at the beginning and artistically applied au...

Song Review:: ASTRO: Moon {Anniversary Tribute}

Image
Release date: 2025 April 19 Album tracklist: Moon Album runtime: 5 minutes  I'm going to put this under ASTRO since it is spearheaded by them/Eunwoo. There is a very long list of contributing artists, and given the nature of what this is, yes, I absolutely am going to list all of them with group members in parentheses with their group: (ASTRO: JinJin, MJ, Rocky, Eunwoo, Sanha), (VIVIZ: Eunbi, SinB, Umji), (Monsta X: Minhyuk, Kihyun, I.M), (Seventeen: Hoshi, Wonwoo, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan), (IMFACT: HELLO GLOOM), (Weki Meki: Yoojung, Doyeon), (SF9: Chani), (Stray Kids: Bang Chan), and (Billlie: Moon Sua) . It's a testament to how many people love Moonbin, really, because this is only a fraction. You can hardly go through the group pages of groups that debuted between 2014 and 2019 without finding a member or two who isn't friends with Moonbin. I genuinely don't know what form this review is going to take, but I highly doubt a lot of critical reviewing will take place. I n...

Music Show Wins: Week of 10/16 - 10/22

Image
This week is apparently dominated by the soloists, as we have both a member of BLACKPINK as well as a member of aespa taking home wins. Karina's required to me do a review on the song, which is fine. I'm happy to do it.  Show Champion, Inkigayo, and The Show  did not have shows and no winner was announced. Also, Billlie was the guest on After School Club this week. The links in the table, by the way, are links to my reviews for each win. I don't know if I ever said that. Show Champion: N/A MCountdown: Jennie "Mantra" Music Bank: The Wind "Hello, My First Love" Show! Music Core: aespa (Karina solo) "Up" (note: I couldn't find a performance for it from this music show, but here is another performance of it.) Inkigayo: N/A ASC Performance: Billie The Show: N/A

Song Review:: Billlie: appendix: Of All We Have Lost- remembrance candy

Image
Release date: 2024 October 16 Album tracklist:  remembrance c andy ,  trampoline , Bluerose, BTTB (Back to the Basics),  shame,  dream diary ~ etching mémoires of midnight rêverie Album runtime: 20 minutes  And now we have the album release. I'm not used to having the album come out that soon to a pre-release, but it's fine. We're all fine. Once again, I do not condone the use of AI in the artwork or music video. That almost sounds like a tack piano at the beginning. I had to drag that instrument out of the memory banks. Some of the other instruments have a very clangy, hollow quality to them, which I find thoroughly intriguing, There's also a sort of breathing element happening in the instrumentals. The whole thing sounds dreamy, but not a pleasant dream. It's some sort of a vision, fever dream, which makes it creepy. Given the month, I'm a huge fan of the vibes. There's also something like reverb happening. I just really like the instrumentals, and I...

Song Review:: Billlie: appendix: Of All We Have Lost- trampoline {Pre-Release}

Release date: 2024 October 16 Album tracklist:  remembrance c andy ,  trampoline, Bluerose, BTTB (Back to the Basics),  shame,  dream diary ~ etching mémoires of midnight rêverie Album runtime: 20 minutes  I'm aware of one of the members of the group by name and know she and one of the other members came off hiatus earlier in the year. I'm always relieved when a member on hiatus for whatever reason becomes active again, and I hope she is doing well. I also believe this is the first full group album in a while, so that's also an exciting moment. I'm also aware of the recent controversy of the use of AI in promotional/album artwork for this album, or this particular single. I'm not entirely sure. I also do not condone the use of generative AI in artwork. But that's something to be aware of.  Audience participation snapping? Be still, my soul. There are a couple of sections where you could actually have audience participation clapping as well, which ...
