Song Review:: WOOAH: WXW (Wish With W)

Image
Release date: 2026 May 13 Album tracklist: WXW (Wish With W) Album runtime: 3 minutes  The only real downside to doing The Expanded Offerings, as I've now decided to call the Greatest Hits and Battle of the B-Sides posts collectively, this close to when a group releases a new song, my brain often gets tricked into thinking I've already reviewed it because it's been so involved with the group.  That's an aggressive electric guitar right there at the start. It almost immediately mellows out, but it doesn't change that the song throws open the double doors to the room you're in. There's something oddly, early 2000s Disney Channel artist about the instrumental (and the melody too but that's for the vocals section). Early Hilary Duff and Kelly Clarkson. There's a good rhythm to this, a lot of which I'm attributing to the three-and-a-half minute runtime because it's got the room to have space and changes and all the things you expect from a song. Greatest Hits:: woo!ah!: Catch the Stars

I waffled back an forth on what song I wanted to do here a lot. I thought I'd made a decision, and then I decided against it. Then I'd made another decision, and decided against it. Then, I went back to my original thought, and here we are. I have, like, three songs that I keep circling that I want to talk about, but that also means putting them in a spot where they support the songs to either side (in this case BTOB and Stray Kids) and also stand out well on their own. I feel for the people who decide the order to put songs in an album or for a setlist. It's not easy. And I know that the group recently-ish had a bit of negative attention, but if anything, that painted the company in a worse light than the group members, and this isn't the first time that a group under that company has had issues with mistreatment.  woo!ah! debuted as a six member group under NV Entertainment (now H Entertainment and also formerly SSQ Entertainment) in 2020. They are currently a five m...

Music Show Wins:: Week of 02/18 - 02/24

Well, with Seollal being this week, the music shows were a bit scarce. Still, we had Ol' Reliable (AKA Music Bank) to give us  one win. And because it wasn't actually broadcast, I don't think, I'm going to give you an older stage that I think you'll find very cool. Which also means that the extra stage is older. For the After School Club re-run, I went with TOMORROW X TOGETHER's very first appearance on ASC right after they debuted, ep. 361 from 2019! They may be global superstars now, but they had to start off being adorable and shy and just plain cutie patooties. For the The Show re-run, I went with Yena formerly of IZ*ONE back in 2022 because that song is just delightful. And then for the extra stage, I went with another The Show stage, this one from WOOAH also from 2022.  As always, the links down below in the spreadsheet go to my reviews... Well, review, in this case. It's fine. The link down with ASC goes to the full episode.  Show Champion: N/A MCou...
