Song Review:: GHOST9: Moonlight

Image
Release date: 2026 September 23 Album tracklist: Moonlight Album runtime: 3 minutes  After the recent influx of AI slop on their Spotify profile, when I actually took a video of the over thirty songs that has dropped over a single weekend, I was initially deeply suspicious when a new release crossed my profile. Imagine my surprise when I look and the runtime is three minutes, but I don't trust yet, so I check the copyright holder. Not only is it in Korean, which none of the others were, but it's also the name of their company! A third check on YouTube confirms: this one is legit and the group's first release in almost two years! That whistling is aggravatingly familiar. I know I've heard something similar. Whatever. Anyway. There's not a lot of particular vibrancy to the instrumental and that aggravates me because of how strong their earlier songs were. The good news is that this instrumental as a whole almost allows for the illusion of a cappella because this is st...

Song Review:: Shin Wonho (Cross Gene): Day & Night

Image
Release date: 2026 October 28 Album tracklist: Day &N ight Album runtime: 2 minutes  This song is woefully, painfully, criminally short, so short that I had to triple check to verify that this was an actual release and not AI garbage and lies. But even though my list of even just the October releases I need to do is long and distinguished, of course I'm going to do the leader of Cross Gene's song, considering I just did a post of theirs for the Expanded Offering. I'm hoping that this is a wonderful addition to the month of spookening because of the album artwork. Well. This was not what I was expecting. We've got a trap beat underneath a generally upbeat instrumental that's also generally weighted down but has a slightly sparkly quality go it. It's good short to have much momentum or change go the song, which is a little bit of a disappointment because of how much I love Fill Me . He actually pulls out a falsetto a couple of times in this song, which helps t...

Battle of the B-Sides:: god: Sing For Me (feat. IU)

Image
 This is going to be an eclectic mix of songs this month. I asked my best friend from middle school to give me a song for this month back in May, I think, and she finally decided on a song in October. This isn't that one. I just want y'all to know that you're going to be getting a lot of songs I just feel like doing and after October, I'm launching y'all into November with a song I love so much. Every time I see either god or IU's names I start singing the beginning of this song. It's fully a vocal stim for me, but it's one of my favorite openings to a song, K-Pop or otherwise. Normally, I'd say something like "I'm pretty sure most of y'all have never heard of them" except god has popped up twice in my monthly recaps for songs I was listening to a lot of that month and they were at KCon LA 2024. Oh, and by the way, you pronounce the group's name as "G-O-D," but you'll learn that from this song.  god debuted in 1999...
