Song Review:: WOOAH: WXW (Wish With W)
- Release date: 2026 May 13
- Album tracklist: WXW (Wish With W)
- Album runtime: 3 minutes
The only real downside to doing The Expanded Offerings, as I've now decided to call the Greatest Hits and Battle of the B-Sides posts collectively, this close to when a group releases a new song, my brain often gets tricked into thinking I've already reviewed it because it's been so involved with the group.
That's an aggressive electric guitar right there at the start. It almost immediately mellows out, but it doesn't change that the song throws open the double doors to the room you're in. There's something oddly, early 2000s Disney Channel artist about the instrumental (and the melody too but that's for the vocals section). Early Hilary Duff and Kelly Clarkson. There's a good rhythm to this, a lot of which I'm attributing to the three-and-a-half minute runtime because it's got the room to have space and changes and all the things you expect from a song. The guitar is almost more prominent than the drums, which is a little fascinating to me.
The vocals are very solid and I'm reminded specifically of Come Clean by Hilary Duff. I don't know why because WXW doesn't have the vocal grit that is the thing I remember most strongly about that song. But it's a settling sort of song, night sky and fireworks. Energetic, but peaceful. And we're getting hints of vibrato. This is really pretty. I'm enjoying this.
This music video is concerning me a little bit, and I hope that feeling is wrong. It's a very cute music video focusing on the bond between the members, and I also really like that it's vibrantly colored. There are some interesting stylistic filters applied to the video in places to give it a very "home movie" feel, which I also like.
