Song Review:: Lucy: Sorry Not Sorry OST Part 1- A New Chapter
- Release date: 2024 December 13
- Album tracklist: A New Chapter, A New Chapter (Inst.)
- Album runtime: 6 minutes
Just the simple fact that Lucy released a new single is enough for me to take notice. The fact that they did an OST? This delights me to no end. I love this band. They're incredible and another of my healers that I've been collecting.
The background vocals are actually included with the instrumentals, which means I don't have to feel guilty about including them in this section. You don't normally hear this much energy from an OST, even though there's still something ludicrously comforting about their sound. Apparently they've done quite a few OSTs over the last four years since they debuted, and I'm curious to know if they managed to bring this same energy each and every time. I don't understand how they do it. There's a long stretch where it's just the bass guitar and the drums, mostly just pulsing out the beat, but they don't go long enough for my mind to start wandering. I'm not sure that they were involved in the production, but the actual composers did a great job of making it sound like one of their songs. Which does make me wonder some things about OSTs that I previously had never considered. The background vocals spend a lot of time just vocalizing, and I'm already very excited about what the vocals are going to sound like. The electric guitar goes so hard for this song that I'm also curious about what kind of presumably drama this is. Still no violin though, and I'm starting to get worried.
Their main vocalist has such a fantastic voice, it's not even funny, and we get to hear it a little lower than normal, which means we also get to hear the work of art that is him belting without going too high. But, we also get to hear his ad-libs, which also fully qualify as the higher belting as well, which similarly is a work of art.
I don't know that they have a music video out for this one yet, so here is the audio!
