Song Review:: Akmu: DADA

  • Release date: 2025 March 30
  • Album tracklist: DADA, DADA (Inst.)
  • Album runtime: 6 minutes

 AKMU are pretty legendary in some circles, what with them being an epic brother-sister duo who debuted back in 2014. I don't know how consistently active they've been over the years, but I do think it's a little funny that it feels like they're part of the round-up YGE is doing to send all their artists out of the various pastures they're in because YGE is broke. I absolutely could be wrong, but YGE is also dragging back artists who were disbanded, so it's not outside the realm of possibilities, even if this is just a single, and a collaboration with Cookie Run at that.

Ah, bless. We get an instrumental track so I can focus on it as is without having to listen under the vocals. And I'm not going to lie, it sounds like the soundtrack to a rom com that focuses on the comedy slightly more than the romance. That or it sounds like the soundtrack to a life sim game. There are some cute and unexpected record scratching to go along with it, so that's a fun little addition to make the song a little more dimensional.

Y'all, they sound so good together. I mean, they should. You don't manage to have their kind of success without having the vocals to match. Also, one of my favorite things to be hearing is harmonization, especially between male and female voices, and we do get this here.

I don't have a lot to say about the music video other than to say that they're adorable, and this seems to be a cute music video about living in the moment.
