Song Review:: FANTASY BOYS: UNDENIABLE- Undeniable

  • Release date: 2025 March 20
  • Album tracklist: Undeniable, Flare, 별하늘
  • Album runtime: 10 minutes

I've got a soft spot for this group already even though I've never heard a song by them because I know they've got Pledis trainees, or former Pledis trainees, in the bunch. Pledis can be a garbage company, but looking at the trainees that have either debuted at Pledis or spent time there and debuted elsewhere, they tend to be impressive idols. And they also clearly take the SM approach of having trainees by the bucket-loads at any given time. They're a project group of the finalists from a survival show, but I don't know if this is a permanent group or a temporary one. However, the youngest two members just turned sixteen, so please do the math and note that they were fourteen at time of debut. So, if I like this song, it's getting put in the storage playlist until the whole group are adults, because I refuse. Shame, that.

A CAPPELLA BEGINNING. It moves into a hip-hop beat with some interesting sound effects like clinked, warped glass. That glass sound is incredibly intriguing in combination with the weird vocalizations going on in the background. I can't decide if I want to hear that sound effect more often or if it's used too often. I say that, but then there's a long stretch that lacks the clink, and I found myself missing it until it returned one last time in the last part of the song. Really, this is a pretty standard beat to be hearing, and that is satisfying, but that glass sound effect really steals the song.

The "bom bom bom bom" at the beginning with the a cappella really sets a different tone from what would follow, but the fact that it returns to join in with that beat keeps it from being a one and done intro, something that I'm starting to be annoyed with, and instead gets folded back into the song to give the whole thing a lovely texture. The vocal riffs in the ad-libs are gorgeous. Whoever that is, he has such a clear falsetto with such a high range with it. The song also seems to be divided between the rap heavy front half and the vocals heavy back half.

The only thing stopping this music video from being a visuals and vibes sort is the fact that there is clearly some sort of heist happening in the background, but it's so barely there that this may as well be labeled a performance video. Which is a disappointment. A full blown heist could be so interesting. Alas. It's also very dark, as in lack of light, but everyone is still visible, so it was kept light enough that you can actually see what's going on, which is a lot of choreography.
