Song Review:: NTX: OVER TRACK- OVER N OVER

 I would have done this one a lot earlier because I hadn't even been in the first accident yet, but I 100% thought this draft was for TNX and I had simply misspelled it. My apologies to both the fans and the group. For everyone else, this group has a 2021 debut year and are another March debut! So I should, in theory, like them since I apparently have a thing for March debuts. The maknae also turns 21 this year, so there's nothing stopping me. And this is a proper album, so, yes. They should get more attention.

The instrumentals for this song feel very familiar, not necessarily for a specific song, but more like 2000s Disney Channel rock. I'm reminded a little of Bratz and Hilary Duff, which is kind of funny to be hearing from a boy group specifically what I'm being reminded of. And it doesn't start off that way. I thought we'd be getting something a lot more hip-hop than the song in general is, but it shifts to rock pretty quickly. We still get hip-hop instrumental whoops popping up occasionally throughout the song. There's a section of rapping where the guitar is very punctuating and decisive, and it's a delight there.

There are a lot of vocalizations throughout the song, giving the song a very upbeat sound, ignoring the lyrics which I haven't looked at the English translation yet, but the bits in English are rather celebratory. This is big. The blend from rapping to vocals and back are surprisingly smooth. It's giving me some B.A.P vibes, specifically from their Feel Good era or more recently as the quartet, which is a big compliment from me.

I'm going to need to sniff through the rest of their discography because I may have found another group. I really like this song. I'm glad I didn't commit to the assumption that I'd made a mistake.

Well, I've slotted them into the same category as xikers. I don't know what that category is, but I'm picking up on some similarities between the groups themselves, but not necessarily with the music. This music video is a little weird, but I kind of like it. I can't say that there's much of a storyline here, but there's also so much weirdness that I can't in good conscience call this simply a vibes and visuals music video. But, it's fun and I like it, and I don't understand why they haven't gotten attention yet.

 I tossed some potentials at Tumblr in a poll and this was what came back in first place, so here we go! Yes, I've gone back to the wasteland that is Tumblr, discovered that I'm considered ancient and decrepit for how long I've HAD a Tumblr account, and had to relearn how to Tumblr. But, that's fine! My Pace is one of the songs that had to be rerecorded following the departure of the former ninth member, so I'm not quite sure how to navigate the differences. I really want to be respectful of the situation and try to find as many post-departure performances and events as I can, but it may not be especially possible in all cases.  There are some songs, beloved by fans, where it feels like the song just gets forgotten in the basement after release. I have quite a few songs like this, where the likelihood of the group or soloist performing the song in a concert is pretty low and I know that, but it doesn't change my love or my hope. Dune  is also one of them, and I'm not alone in this, because it was submitted via The Form by someone who also loves this song. I'm sorry it's taken so long, but the two car accidents in a week (neither of which were my fault, I feel like I have to clarify that I am not irresponsible, just horrifically unlucky) have made it so that I'm doing things as I feel like and also when I have time that's not spent on mental and emotional recovery.  But! That also means I get to sit with this song as I slowly work through it and take my time. Because Dune  deserves a lot of attention and one day, we may get to hear them perform it live. One day. Battle of the B-Sides:: KOYOTE: 웃자 (Let's Laugh)

 Okay, so, Koyote is a co-ed group that originally debuted in 1998, and since has had line-up changes like they're one of the Doctors. The current line-up is Kim Jongim, Shinji, and Bbaekga. Also, I just learned that they did a Killing Voice a year and a half ago (2023) so I recommend you all go check that out. They're there to have fun, and also sing. First gen idols are just built different, you guys. Also also, if you look into their history, there's a really good reason for all the line-up changes. It's a miracle the group has made it this long, even with these members, because it has just been one thing after another, so I'm really happy that we have a current line-up that is stable, long-lasting, and a lot less problematic. And I know I said on the review for Four Seasons  that I'd be doing a GH post for this group, and I still intend to do so (so let me know if there's a title track you really like), but I'm doing one of these instead. 웃자 comes f...

 Unless I do The Roulette Wheel, I obviously can pick which of the suggestions I've gotten that I'll write posts for. I also have a spreadsheet where I have my posts organized by generation and boy group, girl group, and co-ed. The co-ed groups definitely need more attention, but I'm taking these last few Specialty posts to focus on the girl groups because they're not my natural inclination, and while the Roulette Wheel is weighted equally, I don't like that it's uneven. So, I ignored my normal addition of the B/G/Co-Ed Wheel spin and just did it for a girl group, and I ended up with LABOUM.  I love when I get suggestions for groups that I've heard of but haven't actively listened to. I know that f(x) has several songs that are on the list of K-Pop influential songs that pretty much everyone should be familiar with, if they don't know  them. I don't think this is one of them, because this is a b-side, but I could also be wrong. Which is why I like being able to dig into the albums and the songs a little bit. So, this comes from their second studio album Pink Tape, released in 2013, which won a bonsaeng in 2014 at the GDAs, and hit number 1 on multiple music charts worldwide. One of the songs on the album was originally supposed to be Ariana Grande's song, and f(x) got it instead. So that's pretty cool. Song Review:: J-Hope (BTS): Mona Lisa

I apologize for the lateness of this review. I am working through my draft list. And because I wasn't aware of the release until after the fact, it got put in the drafts list. But, let's see how this goes. Also, that run time barely makes this a song, and I'm once again deeply frustrated with HYBE.  This is a pretty mellow hip-hop track going on here. It's chill and rolling through the song with the steadiness of a perfectly smooth marble on a ramp at a slight incline that occasionally levels out to prevent the marble from picking up too much speed. But it's too short to really get any traction going and so it's just perpetually steady without flare or bombast.  I was actually really excited to get this suggestion via The Form, because this song has apparently been sitting in my Junk Drawer for ages, which means that I get to clean out the playlist a little. That feels a little illegal, but who cares? Thank you, dear suggester, for giving me an excellent excuse to move a song out of that unwieldy playlist. They also directed me towards a fan cam from Music Bank  for this song and mentioned that it was the reason they got into the group at all, so I'm excited to see what this fan-inducing fan cam was. You can get some incredible shots on fan cams, and I love them because they're usually the raw audio that's been unaltered by the program or agency to make the groups sound better. When xikers releases a new song, everything else gets put on hold. Also, I'm about to be in all caps for a moment out of my excitement for this because I came in shortly after the release of their second mini album, I've never had an OT10 comeback. AND JUNGHOON IS BACK, BABY! The kids are a complete group again! I may have wanted them to get their first win with Witch  because that song is brilliant, but the storyteller in me also didn't want it then because they weren't complete again yet.
