Song Review:: KiiiKiii: Dancing Alone- Dancing Alone

 I had to do a little bit of a refresher on this group because I couldn't remember if they were under Underage Protocol or not (They are because the maknae is fourteen). So far I've been liking the vibes from them that we've gotten so far and they've exhibited a pretty decent range, though my own sample size for that statement is admittedly rather low because I've only listened to I DO ME and BTG from their recent debut and only for the reviews. I do have to say I'm pleased that both songs are over three minutes.

There's a gentleness to the instrumentals at the beginning that gets a little bit pushed aside once the song proper starts. It kind of makes me feel like prom in the 1990s. Early 90s maybe? The drumline and bass are really the only thing that keeps the song from being so soft that it doesn't have presence while simultaneously holding the energy of the song up. I'm actually tentatively excited about the choreography, which doesn't often happen with girl groups, unfortunately.

They have a very strong Girls' Generation vibe to their voices. Girls' Generation or S.E.S maybe? It does lack some of the stronger generational markers that you find in K-Pop from the 90s, but it also doesn't have some of the stronger late second gen markers. It actually feels like a really sweet song with harmonizing and ad-libs that, while they don't move into belting, their voices make me kind of annoyed that the maknae was fourteen at debut, so I can't actually listen to them for four years.

It's a summer song! It's a Slice of Life music video! Do you know how long it's been since I've seen one of these? Considering that there's at least one minor on the team, I'm actually pleased that they didn't get costuming or choreography that is too sexual. Like, y'all, I am all about this. It's such a cute music video.
