Song Review:: LOVEONE: LOVE HIGH

  • Release date: 2025 August 11

  • Album tracklist: LOVE HIGH

  • Album runtime: 3 minutes

 New LOVEONE song! Yes! As a reminder because this is both a young group and a group from a very small company, here was their debut song as well as their second single. I'm still waiting on them to drop their first mini album, but I'm completely fine with their company easing them into this whole thing, especially with how expensive things are. Big Ocean's company did the same thing with them and I think it's working out well for them. DRAMA QUEEN has actually ended up in several of my playlists since its release because I genuinely just like it that much. And, the best part? The song is over three minutes. Barely. But it is in fact over three minutes. So now all I need is to actually like the song. Fingers crossed.

"Summer Special Single" indeed. Even though we've largely the same vibe through the majority of the song, with a good rhythm to the shifts between the energetic, summery chorus, the softer pre-chorus, and the verse that reminds me a lot of country music from like Maddie & Tae or Gabby Barret or Carly Pearce, which means that I'm automatically fully on board with this song. This feels a little bit like a fairytale kind of song, but I've never been happier to hear one. Done. Sold.

One of the things I really appreciate about this group specifically is that they have a good range of tones and I've really enjoyed hearing the way they've grown over the past year. Solid lower vocals, well-supported higher vocals. Their company is picking very good songs for the group. We still don't have a big belt, not really, but we're getting a little closer, and that's something I very much appreciate. So close to a proper belt. It also feels a little bit like there are a couple of moments of call and response within the song, which lends a playful air to the song.

This isn't a music video per se, but it is really cute. I was a little bit surprised to see Apple Jacks, but it is what it is. They're very cute and seem to have a very sweet vibe. The glamour lens on top of the soft lighting also gives this a romantic air. I'd also say that they seem to be a lot more comfortable on camera than they were at debut, which means growth, which is really the only think I could ask for. I'm satisfied. This was good.
