Song Review:: Soojin (idle): BADITUDE: BADITUDE

  • Release date: 2025 August 29

  • Album tracklist: BADITUDE, Little Bit More

  • Album runtime: 5 minutes

I'm pretty sure that Soyeon is a little bit sticky with regards to this member, so I'm following the leader when it comes to what members I tag with the group name. I also hear that she had to cancel her upcoming tour, which is unfortunate, but her releases have not been consistent, and this is her first release since May of 2024. It's also only a single. I don't know what's going on with her, but this is where we're at. And also, the song is only two-and-a-half minutes long. Why? Why is this a thing?

If this were a group song for something, I would expect this to have pretty strong choreography. As this is for a soloist, I would expect the backup dancers to have pretty strong choreography and for Soojin herself to actually have a modified version of it with the occasional burst of big choreography, notably at the dance break near the end. That's what this instrumental is like.

I don't particularly like the amount of repetition in the song. And if you're looking for my normal grumping about street cred, you're not going to find it for Soojin. She debuted as an idol seven years ago. As far as I'm concerned, she's got the street cred for these lyrics. She still sounds like i-dle, which is fun for those of us who are me. I'd probably really like this song if it were longer. As it is, I'm just frustrated by the length.

Good news, the music video adds a whole thirty seconds to the song. Yay. That likely means we get some storyline, which I am all about. Bad news, that still makes the music video barely three minutes. But you know what? It could be worse. Violence warning at the beginning. So interestingly, I think she's playing a hitman, almost a Black Widow type, which is fascinating. We could have had a lot more of it instead of the abundance of choreography that we do get, which is fine. It's not ideal, but as I thought, we got a lot of strong choreography.
