One of my LOONA girls! Whoo! I'll get to the pre-release eventually, but in the meantime, here is this! I am not about that runtime, though. Good news, that's not rounded up? Bad news, it's barely sixteen minutes long. And the title track length is nauseating.
First listen, I thought the whole song had basically the exact same instrumental looped through the whole thing, but I am pleased to report that it's got a little bit bit more variety than I previously thought. Not by a lot. The second half of the song is basically just a couple of bars looped. But the beginning of the song is not, and it's also got nothing that really catches my attention. It's slightly sturdier than milquetoast, but there's nothing really grounding the song through most of it. The percussion is on higher notes and when we get lower beats, they're so briefly in the song that it doesn't feel like like they contribute a lot. I'm unfortunately disappointed by this.
Continuing with that, I'm a little disappointed by the vocals. The song is so short and the song is so static that it feels a little bit like Yves's voice is a neglected dog chained in the backyard on a short lead, unable to do much but circle around the same small area. She obviously has a good voice. Does the song have any held out notes to show it off? No. Is there a belt for her? No. I can't even tell if there are proper adlibs for her. The spot where it sounds like there could be adlibs could also simply be PinkPantheress. Unfortunately, I can't tell which voice is which, but that's definitely a limitation of the fact that I simply do not know Yves's voice well enough to be able to do so.
Interesting. Normally on a Vibes and Visuals music video, the emphasis is slightly more on the vibes so I can at least get a feel for the concept that they're going for. This one was more on the visuals side of things, so unless the concept was something other than "two gorgeous women serving face", I don't have a clue. Which is fine. As much as I'm not a particular fan of it, music videos are fully allowed to do this. I'm just overall dissatisfied with this entire song, unfortunately. But if you like it, that's your yum and I hope it brings you joy.
