Song Review:: Kim Sihun: 0 Break

  • Release date: 2025 September 04

  • Album tracklist: 0 Break

  • Album runtime: 3 minutes

Once again, the YouTube Algorithm has offered me a new release, and once again, this was not on my radar. So in order to keep it from getting lost in the shuffle, here we are. And because I have no idea who he is, a quick look is necessary to discover that he's done two survival shows and narrowly missed out on debuting with Close Your Eyes, a group that, if you've been here for a bit, you'll know I absolutely adore to pieces. He debuted as a soloist last year, technically after I'd started writing these, but I obviously didn't cover it, otherwise I would have known who he is. Maybe not in connection to Close Your Eyes yet, but I would have remembered his name at least.

I love the way that the energy shifts and rolls throughout the song. The beginning was soft and intimate sounding, with other instruments and rhythms added quietly until we get to the chorus where the song has a gorgeous big burst. He's also almost singing in a cappella for at least part of the song, but also I really like how the songs builds and expands with very little to tell you where things were. Very pretty.

He's got a debut ready voice. I hope he gets into a group, because the versatility in his voice is nice to hear. He's not got quite as low a voice as I like to be hearing, tonally anyway, but he's still got some fun little runs going on. It's nice. I actually quite enjoy this.

This is not entirely what I'd call a visualizer; it's not abstract enough. But he is quite pretty and he seems fairly comfortable with the camera, as I'd expect with two survival shows under his belt.
