Song Review:: TREASURE: LOVE PULSE- PARADISE
- Release date: 2025 September 01
- Album tracklist: EVERYTHING, PARADISE, NOW FOREVER, BETTER THAN ME
- Album runtime: 12 minutes
I did watch the YG announcement for TREASURE, BABYMONSTER, and BLACKPINK. That is a lot of capitalizations. So I knew this was coming and this was on my list of releases I was curious about for this month. I haven't listened to them a lot, much like I haven't actually listened to a lot of BIGBANG, WINNER, or iKON (again, so many capital letters), but when I like one of their songs, I tend to really, really like it. Plus, the members of TREASURE are all adults now, and that's important because at debut, I couldn't have listened to them (maknae was fifteen). So I came it at a good time. The album doesn't quite hit the desired three minute average, but each song is at least in the 2:50 range, so it could be a lot worse. The title track is the shortest of the bunch, but it could be worse. I'd prefer if all the songs got an extra ten seconds, but I'm trying to be positive. The title track is not 2:12 seconds, and I'm definitely not using that number because there was a recent title track that was that long. So even though YG the Dude is kind of gross, he's not fully skimping out on the songs like some other well-known producers at other big companies I could name, but won't.
Okay. I love the thumbnail. That's awesome. And It's got seventies styling. This isn't where I talk about the music video. I'm very excited for it though. I already kind of love it. I had to play the music video and switch to a different tab, so I've been seeing the first two seconds or so before I can switch over.
It sounds very seventies too. I'm in love with the instrument that I think is a saxophone. That instrument is a little loud for the vocals and does kind of cover them up, which is a little bit of a problem. Part of that problem is the fact that the saxophone is playing the same notes that the members are singing in a few places, which is the reason why they're overpowering. I still like what they're doing, just not the volume. But this definitely falls into the celebration category of songs, so while I don't like the volume, I understand it. It is prompting me to do some happy wiggles in my chair while I'm listening to it, so the fun, danceability of the song is quite high. It actually reminds me a little bit of Candy House by SW:TCH, which was another one that made me happy wiggle.
I've already started singing along. This song is so catchy. Goodness. If this had been released closer to the start of the summer, and Golden hadn't happened, this could have been the song of the summer. Did I mention that when I like their songs, I really like them? I'm missing vibrato most of the time, but I did catch some, and it was specifically with the big, belted ad-libs. If you're basically only going to have vibrato in one spot, that's where I want it to be. But, like, the song is fun, it's catchy, and it's vibrantly present. I would have liked for them to have a longer mini album than four songs, which barely qualifies as a mini album, but this is so catchy that it almost makes up for it.
Okay, I actually legitimately and fully love this song. You know the show, The Voice? Sometimes my brain slams one of those buttons on some of these songs. This is one of them. It's actually a pretty goofy song and the music video is even goofier. Fully vibes and visuals, but in a "We're just here to have a good time" sort of way. Love this. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the album.
