Music Show Wins:: Week of 10/22 - 10/28

  If you haven't heard the news, The Show is set to be canceled in the first half of November, which is infuriating. The Show, while probably the least frequently occurring of the music shows, was the one that the younger/less well-known groups had the best shot of getting wins on, especially that all important first win. And, related to that, it appears that After School Club may also have been canceled. It's listed as a previous show on the website, and I cannot begin to express my displeasure in this. Again, this was a good space for the rookies and the smaller groups to start. Some groups that got very big eventually started out as rookies or young, struggling groups on ASC (BTS, Seventeen, and Stray Kids, to name a few), and it filled a niche for those groups to have more much-needed exposure. Hopefully, we get something to replace the shows, especially since I think they were on the same broadcasting network. 

Okay. Bad news over. Good news. NMIXX. Almost a clean sweep, there. Yay! And a rookie group got a win on The Show! Hmm! Almost like that's how it's supposed to work! Sorry. I'm a little upset about this. Enjoy the performances. We have a full set! 

I switched how ASC looks in the chart to reflect the change, because I still think it's worth it to promote those smaller groups, even if they're disbanded now, because their hard-work and effort deserves to be remembered and so many of the groups have incredible songs that could go viral if people could discover them again. But this week, while I'm working to accept this, I'm not including one. I couldn't watch. (Mmmm...maybe I should share a re-run performance from The Show...I don't know. I'll decide.)

 Unless I do The Roulette Wheel, I obviously can pick which of the suggestions I've gotten that I'll write posts for.  It's the most wonderful time of the year!  I'm back with a new selection of Halloween themed or generally spooky songs for you all! Have I spent the year looking for new songs for my playlist? Yes. Yes, yes I have, so if you have anymore suggestions for me, give me the creepy doll songs, the predatory wolfy songs, the haunting and the eerie. As I can't tell that there's a discernable actual title track from this album beyond what I've already covered, I'm just going to pick my favorite track of the bunch to review. It's been bothering me that I haven't done one when I was so diligent with the tracks with the music videos. This album is a massive undertaking, and I genuinely don't know which ones are new songs and which are old. But I know at least this one is a b-side because there is absolutely no corresponding music video. Also, what a flex. Twentieth Japanese anniversary. King of Kings, indeed.  This group has a grand total of 2500 listeners a month on Spotify, so I'm super happy that the submitter decided to give this song to me. Let's see if we can introduce more people to them. I've also never actually heard of this group before so chances are, you and I are both going to be going on this venture into this b-side and group together for the first time. Release date: 2025 February 18 Album tracklist: TIME 2 SHINE , MY LOVE , LOVERS OR JUST FRIENDS Album runtime: 9 minutes  Yes, I remember this group. This is the group I thought would be more like xikers than TWS, and I was very wrong about that. Or at least I was with the last song they released that I covered. Release date: 2025 April 29 Album tracklist: Pookie, ADONIS, Work of Art, Perfect Crime, Heartbreak, Midnight Special Album runtime:  minutes  I believe that this is a pre-release for the group because Spotify gave me a notification that the countdown for the album had begun. Which was amusing, but I've also got a suspicion that this one might get a win on a music show. Haven't heard it yet. But I've got a feeling that the possibility is there. If I'm right, I'm going to be rather excited for the group which is the Ship of Theseus. If I'm wrong, well, they have a title track coming out as well soon, so that can be another attempt by the fans. Music Show Wins:: Week of 10/01 - 10/07

 We're already in October. Goodness. You know, it might be interesting for me to go through and tally how many groups got how many wins this year, and how many times each music show had a winner for an end of year music show summary post. I don't know. I'll have to think about it. That might be fun though. Y'all have all the raw data already and I could make pie charts and bar charts and... Sorry, I'm math nerd-ing again.  Two exciting things happened this week! First, we got two triple crowns this week! The only way I would be happier is if it was for a song that I could have given you more stage performances for, but that is super exciting! Congrats to the group! And, something that I have been rooting for since they debuted in January because they have had the absolute worst luck with timing, KickFlip got their first win! I couldn't be happier!   We didn't get any of the music shows for the first part of the week because of the mourning period. Starting with Music Bank , we got a return to a song that had a couple of weeks without a win, and as soon as I saw the name, I started laughing. And then for Inkigayo , we got another older song. YG supremacy. For After School Club (ASC), the hip-hop girl group YOUNG POSSE were the guests. I found them to be delightfully adorable. There wasn't an MC challenge, which made me a little sad because that's my favorite segment, but I was very entertained by the members regardless. The link for the episode is included as always.  Summoned for you directly from The Form, it's ironically a song from the same album that I've already done a BBS post from. I chose to do Darling  because of the roulette wheel and shuffle, so that one's on me. But apparently someone out there in the world really likes this album to slide the title track my way as well.  So, I was technically focusing on the repackage album of this for Darling , so you get sort of new information. Released in 2011, this was their first full album. Containing a grand total of thirteen tracks and a runtime of 43 minutes, which averages out to a little more than three minutes a song, it's at a good length, even with the first track dropping the average. It did pretty well on the charts, peaking at second on the Gaon weekly chart and third on the Gaon monthly chart. Song Review:: POW: Wall Flowers

Release date: 2025 September 29 Album tracklist: Wall Flowers Album runtime: 3 minutes  Okay, we've got a nice single from this group I remember being one of the ones that I forget I like until I listen to them, and then I remember that I like them. Progress. And , even more excitingly, there's a dance practice to go along with it.  The instrumental is basically easy listening jazz. If this was just on its own, it would be calm, chill, snoozy time music. But it's not, and normally you'd expect smoother vocals, maybe some husky singing, but instead, we get quite the dichotomy. This is a Christmas instrumental you just casually put on in the background while you open presents. What we actually get from the members is about as far from Christmas instrumental as you could possibly get. The rapping is slow enough that you get tricked into thinking that this is going to be a chill song, but the shouting in the latter half to a quarter of the song immediately negates the chill...
