Song Review:: Sevenus: WHITE FALL- Airplane mode

  • Release date: 2025 November 25

  • Album tracklist: Airplane mode, Sunny side up, An enduring dream, Airplane mode - Instrumental

  • Album runtime: 12 minutes

I was hoping to get this out yesterday, but life got in the way a little bit. Happy Thanksgiving to those of y'all in the States! Even if it's late. Sevenus is one of those groups that I wish got a lot more attention because they are dang talented and not just because they introduced themselves on Peak Time with Hello by NU'EST, which I will never shut up about because that's one of my favorite covers done on a survival show. Also, we don't have to worry about any of the problems with minors with them because those two haven't been minors in over a decade since before they debuted as part of MASC. So, to recap: dang talented, amazing and mature voices, experienced. And I'm fine with one of the songs being barely over two-and-a-half minutes because it's not the title track and the total runtime is still a three-minute average.

I love that we got the instrumental on its own; it really helps me out so that I can focus. So, first and foremost, there's some delightful crackling sitting under most of the song that I can't decide if it feels more old-timey or more fireplace, although given the way that the rest of it slots together I'm leaning a bit more towards old-timey. There are so many different ingredients to the song, little bits of melody and percussion and sound effects that play so well. This is fun. This is genuinely fun and light and playful. I'm kind of hoping that this song isn't actually about something horribly sad and depressing.

As expected, the crackling doesn't show up nearly as strongly with the vocals over it. That's actually wonderful. What else is wonderful is the fact that they've got a lot of playfulness in their voices. This is a nice song that I've got a sneaking suspicion that it's one of those songs that is like "Well, my life is falling apart but that's fine." I actually really like those songs. We've got some decent ad-libs going on, but otherwise nothing that's overly demonstrative of their abilities. Still, I also like this one.

This music video is so cute. Like. It's adorable. It's also referencing UP which is one of my least favorite movies because while I enjoyed the latter half of the movie, the first little bit was not my kind of thing and is the reason why I have only see it once. This music video is not nearly as sad. Again, it's really cute.
