Song Review:: Chuei Li Yu: SWEET DREAM- UxYOUxU {Debut}

 I knew I recognized this name. Congrats on the solo debut! I suspect he’s going to get a win on a music show this week so I’m going to get this one done so I don’t have to panic complete a review for it. If you watched Boys Planet II, you may also recognize this name, and yes, this is him. So this is good to see what he’s been up to since the end of the survival show. The title track is less than two-and-a-half minutes though, which is quite frustrating. 

This is a pretty chill song. The whistling mimicry is an interesting addition that I wasn’t expecting to hear, and it comes up fairly frequently, especially because that melody is repeated often throughout the song, using different instruments to create a sense of variation even though it technically isn’t as varied as it could be. But it’s cute. I like that. Wildly too short, but honestly, I think the song makes the most of what it has in terms of time. 

This is a pretty mild song vocally. It’s got a couple of spots where it gets a little interesting, but for the most part, I’m not convinced that this is an overly difficult song to sing. I’m willing to chalk it up to the song length as the primary culprit here, rather than his capabilities, because it’s just such a short song. Good news, this isn’t a song that I’m likely to call milquetoast, so we’re thankfully moving away from that sound and honestly, I couldn’t be happier about this. It’s still a little background musicky, but it could be a lot more irritating, so I’m happy to take this.

Oh, this is a cute music video. This is just the cutest thing. Everything about this is just adorable. They styling, the choreography bits we get to see, the proposal with the Ring Pop. Probably one of the cutest music videos to drop this year.
