- Album runtime: 3 minutes
Most of what I know about this group is that they have a song called “After School”, which has caused me to see the song every time that I search for the group “After School”. They also have some good spooky or Christmas songs, but that’s the majority of what I know about them, and I know less than that about Lunedi (formerly known as Monday) from the group. It looks like she may have debuted as a soloist last year, unless that was a pre-debut release, but it’s been over a year.
This is a solid rock song. It feels a bit punk rock too, which means that I’m feeling pretty spoiled with what we’ve been getting. It’s also a little fascinating how the song’s moments of quiet are not peaceful and instead feel quite pointed and coiled. Normally I call spots like that a breather, but this time I’m not because it’s not. It’s entirely a point where the song prepares to leap. I am so much about this that it’s not even funny. Legitimately, each time that the song finishes in its repeat mode while I write this, I like it even more. And I already liked it from the start.
This is a fabulous song. She’s showing off so much range in volume, in pitch, in tone. We’ve got the quiet murmur to the big belts. She’s showing off her falsetto and we get a touch of vibrato, though not nearly as much as I would have hoped for the scale ascension there at the end. So I am a little tiny bit disappointed on that end, but really it’s the only part that has me at all disappointed. If she sounds like this in the group, I may have to take a listen to the group. And I swear, if Lunedi is the leader, I’m going to laugh, because, oh, I like her voice.
No music video, but this is only a digital single and there's usually only about a fifty percent chance there's a music video attached. This one just fell on the other side.
