Song Review:: RESCENE: lip bomb- Bloom

 Okay, now that it's December and that means the number of reviews I need to do has gone down, I feel the motivation to get to some of the ones I didn't do. Good news is that this one isn't too far off from its release. Bad news, we are on Underage Protocol. But, as always, I'm just hoping I like this song. I'd rather be frustrated because I want to listen to the song, and can't, than be frustrated in not letting the groups live up to their full potential, you know?

This would be a good song for your general 3rd gen girl group listener, especially fans of TWICE But also, and I think I'm about to say something controversial, this song kind of sounds like something Huntrix would do. I'm getting shades of Golden from it. The beat is a little heavy, but it's also quite firm and supportive, which is a good combination that allows the song to feel both grounded and loose. We don't have a ton of variation to the instrumental, which is fine because there's enough going on else where that I don't find my mind wandering. And honestly? Yeah, I'd put this in a couple of playlists. Probably not my "Oh, my gosh I am so in love with this song I need to scream about it from the rooftops" playlist, but definitely some of my other regular listening ones. And I also suspect that were I able to listen to this on repeat, it might eventually end up in the important playlist. 

You want to know what song this kind of reminds me of? Like, the specific song? Move by my boy Ren, vocally, anyway. They really do have good voices, which is why I'm so annoyed that they're on U.P. The after effects on their voices give them a floaty quality, especially in the chorus, but it's really a pretty song, and with the contrast between their vocals and the instrumental? This one is good. I enjoy it. Most of my frustration goes toward their ages.

This is such a cute, wholesome music video. It's adorable. And it's got stop-animation too, which brings me so much joy. It's very much a vibes and visuals, but it's a lot heavier on the vibes and I love that for it. And some of the members have moments where I could definitely feel their potential for something a little weightier, but this is good for now. I also have to give a specific shout-out to the sets because they were gorgeous.
