Y'all may know him from his acting days or his ZE:A days, but now he's debuting as a soloist technically under SM for his music and I think TheBlackLabel for his acting, which is an amusing combination. This is exciting. I like this. If I remember correctly, that makes two of the ZE:A members who debuted as soloists in the last couple of months. I like this. Also, hilariously, this is the shortest song on the mini album.
This is a fascinating instrumental. It almost sounds like a song from a musical from the forties that has been updated into 2025. I genuinely am not sure exactly how to classify it in my head. There's a lot of piano, and it's a little bit jazzy, but it's not full jazz. There are so many tiny little pieces to this song. Don't get me wrong, I think I really like it, but I'm not sure exactly what it's trying to be.
He's got a really good voice with his pitch control showed off fairly well and we can hear his vibrato. Both of these things are, of course, what I expect to be hearing from a second gen idol, so it's good that that expectation is met. After I finish this review, I'm going to be taking a look at the other songs on the mini album, because I suspect that even though I'm not wholly in love with this one, one of the others I will. This song is right on the edge for me, but it doesn't quite have that wow factor. Possibly because I have no idea what to make of that instrumental.
As a side note, I love it when they've gone blond, but then you can see the black growing out at the roots. It's literally top three favorite hair colors idols can have. Anyway, I love this music video. It's got a fun time loop going on and it's so soft and sweet. "No matter how bad or unfortunate life gets, I have you, and that makes it better." It's such a cute little storyline and he gets to show off his acting chops.
