Song Review:: Alpha Drive One: EUPHORIA- FREAK ALARM {Debut}

  • Release date: 2026 January 12

  • Album tracklist: FORMULA, FREAK ALARM, Raw Flame, Chains, Never Been 2 Heaven, Cinnamon Shake

  • Album runtime: 18 minutes

 I recognize at least two of those titles as being from the survival show, but I also cannot remember what either of them sound like. I'll probably take a listen to the whole thing, especially because I can, what with all of the members being adults and whatnot. Congrats on the debut, everyone! Whoo!

This is the most hip-hop sounding track that I've heard in a while. It also feels very 90s hip-hop. But it's an interesting choice to start off the debut song a cappella. Regardless of whether or not I like that choice, it's a bold one and I like that. I'm struggling a little to get a sense of what kind of choreography this is going to have because the different sections are so disparate. The amount that the song softens is surprising as well. I guess I'll have to wait until the music video. But I do have to give kudos to the producer(s) because there's a spot in the instrumental where there's a rapid-fire pass back and forth between the right and left sides of a stereo system. I love it when songs do this.

So, this is incredibly satisfying, actually. It's got a great blend of rapping and singing, which I'm obviously partial to, but the best part is actually the fact that even when we've got the heavier hip-hop style going on in the instrumental, we get vocals there. This is actually a really good debut song because there's so much being showcased and blended in a single song, which strengthens the song and says a lot about their capabilities. We have a lot of comebacks to showcase how good the group is at each thing, but a debut that gives width like this? There's also so much vocal layering going on and harmonizing that I'm absolutely delighted to be hearing all of this.

That was a nice music video. Lots of different elements, lots of thematic and vibing elements. The color scheme was a little bit muted in the neutral colors, both in sets and in costuming, which I'm not overly fond of, especially when that doesn't seem to reflect the vibrancy of the song itself. The choreography looks good. The general vibe I'm getting from the music video is one of high production quality, though I am disappointed by the lack of storyline here.
