Song Review:: BTOB: We Together

First full group song since they left Cube! I'm calling this as the companion song to Be Together, which is a genuine masterpiece and if you haven't heard it, I highly and deeply recommend it. Can't wait to see what gift BTOB has for the Melodies for their fourteenth anniversary. And bless them, but they also gave us more than three minutes. Have I mentioned that I love them? But you want to know what makes me love them more? This was released on March 21. Their anniversary is March 21. The runtime for the song is 3:21.

We have an instrumental, so I get to hang out with that part of the song on its own before I hear their lovely voices. I'm going to guess that this is a Hyunsik-composed song based on the amount of guitar that's prevalent in the instrumental (spoilers, I was correct). But there is a beautiful little melody (pun not intended), in this instrumental that is going to be such a good solid backbone for the rest of the song and their vocals. But this being a Hyunsik-composed song means that he's the one who I get to blame for being a cute little softy and making me cry over the runtime of all things.

It's so nice to hear Changsub and Sungjae back with the group. So, I'm just going to say right off the bat that this song hits all three of my wants: vibrato, belts/runs, harmonizing. As expected from them. So I don't know about you, but I'm very excited that Peniel gets to sing before he starts rapping. The rappers matched the smooth flow of the rest of the song very well, so even when Minhyuk gets a little more clipped and Peniel deepens his voice a little. The little grunts caught my attention a little during Peniel's rap, but I'm assuming that I'm hearing what I think I'm hearing wrong. This is a full group song in the purest sense, because I think we've got all six members singing at once during the chorus (and I think we may have a six part harmony in a couple of spots), which means that this is going to be a perfect finale and encore song. Actually, this would be the perfect song to pull another Tonight and have the fanchant take up three quarters of the song again. Can you guys imagine that for a second? The whole group singing together, harmonizing, while the fans sing with them? And BTOB's fanchants sometimes include harmonizing themselves because Minhyuk likes to torture them. And also he knows they can do it. Even if I'm wrong about the fanchant, that's going to be such a full sound live. Man. And Eunkwang's ad-libs...

I love that Sungjae has a mic that mimics the colors of the light stick. Eunkwang did his little excited bug thing he does. And this is legitimately the perfect way to say "We're together again and still" to whoever needs to be reminded of that. I love this music video. It's a warm hug. Someone needs to take the springs out of Minhyuk's shoes though. He's a little bit more active than the song requires, adorable as it is. I also love the way that Eunkwang and Minhyuk specifically keep hanging on Sungjae. Gotta love on the maknae, even when he's acting up.
