I was actually startled when I saw that they'd released a new song, which I can only assume is because I just did a Battle of the B-Sides post for them (loved it, by the way). And then I wasn't going to do this one next, but it did start playing before I could pause the Young Posse song, so I went "Eh, sure. I can do that one next." But the four seconds that I've already heard? Oh, I'm going to like this song. I'm a bit peeved by the runtime in general because some of those songs are very short, but at least the title track isn't. It's still too short, but it clearly could be worse.
The instrumental does the thing where it mimics the vocal melody, and that's like catnip to me. I love when it comes up. We've got a fantastic blend of modern and traditional with the skittering beat and a stringed instruments that I really need to learn the name for at some point. Oh, this is good. There are spots where one is stronger than the other, but they do the trade off really well, and I'm really tickled by the fact that they rap over one of the more traditional sections because once again, it's that blend.
You know what? I don't know if it's because I just listened to Same Scent extensively, but this sounds like it could be a Oneus song. Huge compliment, by the way. I love their vocals. And we've got such a range of vocal textures here between the singing and the rapping that I'm just so satisfied by this. I know I already mentioned this as part of the instrumental, but we get the vocal melody and the instrumental doing the same thing at the same time. Oh, I love it.
Ooh, even the choreography is a bit like Oneus. I love that they're tied up by the red strings of fate that they're also fighting against. But, oh, this is has so much delicious story to this that I'm so down with the entirety of the song. All pieces of it.
