Song Review:: Donghae (Super Junior): Alive- Good Day {Pre-Release}
- Release date: 2026 April 07
- Album tracklist: Good Day (feat. Jay Park & 1iL)
- Album runtime: 4 minutes
He was so funny at the concert. We got a lot of them talking about their upcoming solo activities, and spoilers in some cases. Donghae doesn't have a lot of solo songs out there, which does make this all the more precious, but this is a pre-release for a full album, which is very exciting for him and for us, and I'm very excited to be seeing what he's got for us there. I know who Jay Park is. He...technically debuted only a few years after Donghae did. And I don't know who 1iL is, so I'm going to look that up. And it turns out that he's a member of History! Wow. Okay. So that's Super Junior, 2PM, and History represented in this song, although only one of them is an active member of his respective group. That's a lot of second gen here.
We have a gospel choir in the background and an accompanying organ. Okay. That's it. That's all I need for right now. I'm not going to lie, I left this on repeat while I did some quick shopping for a laptop cooling pad considering that it's getting to be summer and my laptop is getting a little elderly. And after about ten minutes of just gently vibing to this instrumental, I kind of love this. Well, not kind of. The song has enough room to just breathe and let the song have different sections, like the full energy next to just a pair of instruments. But the choir helps so much by adding a lot of texture to this song.
So apparently 1iL (or Kyungil from History) has written a few songs for Super Junior D&E. So that makes this even cooler. I have no idea which one is which, although I'd guess that one of the rappers is Jay Park, because I don't actually know what their voices sound like. Either way, we've got basically a boy group contained in these three, and a lot of different vocal textures. There's also a range in notes, from the celebratory "Good day!" to basically everything that's going on in the bridge. That bridge is a masterpiece, everyone, and you need to know this. Perfect architecture, right there. The engineers did their job well. I almost don't want to turn the song off to go watch the music video. That's how well I like this.
This is the cutest concept for a music video I've seen from someone that debuted longer than three years ago in a while. I am happy, Donghae. And I hope you also have a good day. It's also kind of weird, but this is a Super Junior member. I really wouldn't expect any different.
