This is the group I have associated with bright green for some unknown reason but it turns out that bright green is one of their fandom colors. So that's appropriate.
Ooh, we've got some audience participation snapping. Excellent. It's been a moment since the last time I got that in a new track. There's actually a really good blend of the instruments, where none of them quite manage to be the "main" instrument, if that makes sense. Because even while the drums are doing their necessary beat thing, we've got the guitar doing a lot of heavy lifting with melody, but that synthesizer is a constant presence. And! The drums aren't even the only percussion instrument we've got. We also get some a cappella, or near a cappella, and it all adds up to a solid instrumental.
I've got vibrato and a belt, and that belt turns into a run at the end. We actually get vibrato in a couple of places, but my main focus is on that belt because it extended past where I thought it would to my delight, and then it moved, and then it kept going. Whichever member that is has some excellent lung capacity. I'm telling y'all. Especially if he does that after dancing for this song while singing live. There are other cool things happening with the song, and I think the title is clever. But whatever is going on there, especially because the instruments go away to give that voice a spotlight right there, is the highlight and killing point of the song. That's the part on a survival show that the trainees would be fighting over to get.
You know what, if I watched the music video first, I wouldn't have had to have pieces connect about the title. That's what I get. Apparently this music video was a surprise, which is fine. It's slightly more of a performance video, but it got one, so I'm not going to quibble overmuch. And it looks like I'm not the only going "What was that???????" because other fandoms popped into the comments to comment on that note. I do find it funny that my brain has them associated with bright green and there is none in the music video. It's probably only funny for me though.
