I was temporarily confused, and horrified, that Jaejoong would have his brand new boy group drop another album so soon after the first while preparing to debut the second one. And then I remembered my joke about how I’ve written the word “KEYVITUP” so many times that it had ceased to have meaning. I’m also currently writing this while I’m on an airplane, so I’m not sure if this is supposed to be on Underage Protocol or not, but I think I may also remember that I made a comment about them being fine and I just needed the second one to follow suit.
This is a surprisingly sparse instrumental and it’s bafflingly unlike just about anything that I’ve heard come out of a group recently, especially not one as young as they are. It’s discordant, but there are a lot of pieces working together to make that friction in the instrumental that weirdly work together. I think I like this. I really do think I like this. But I’m not certain because this is just a baffling instrumental. I mean, there’s everything from science fiction lasers to a gorgeous string section to an a cappella section as well. It’s just kind of odd. And I’d just like everyone to know that having your headphones plugged in all the way makes for a much better listening experience. You hear a lot more of this song that way.
Vocally, the song is a lot more recognizable as a flavor as I’m chewing on this song. It’s still strange because I don’t think they increase in volume at any point and this sounds like four different songs wearing a trenchcoat. Honestly, there’s probably a little bit of something for everyone here, and the total disregard for picking a song style and genre is a bold choice. I applaud that, even though I’m sitting here unable to even guess what the choreography or the music video could possibly be like. Baffling. It is borderline on if it gets added to the Playlist though. Like, it’s very close.
You know, there are a couple of camera angles here that if this were a girl group, I would be up in arms. I'm less outraged, only because they're wearing pants, but it's still not cool. Other than that, it's a very chill music video with a few bits that obviously have very high production value and others that were lower, but appropriately so, if that makes sense once you've seen it.
