Well, the album only has one song longer than three minutes, but the title track isn't hovering around the two-and-a-half minute mark. So progress? I guess? Maybe what's going on at HYBE right now will make them loosen the reigns a bit and let the companies that they run (sorry, "are independent") and let the title tracks be longer than three minutes again. I'm also glad that I've already seen Seungkwan do dance challenges with them, and also a couple of the members of CORTIS. I like the interactions between idols.
You know, we've been able to hear a very clear progression of the instrumental sound transitioning from their early debut stuff two years ago to where we're at now. This has been the opposite of a quick change (and once again, is more similar to the career progression of NU'EST than Seventeen). This is a slightly funkier, more mature sound than we've gotten from them so far, without the brightness in energy that I like from their earlier work. The thing is, though, that the moment where we get the transition into the chorus, it doesn't go far enough. There's a great build up for anticipation, and then it just kind of goes back to where it was at before the chorus. That's disappointing. We could have gotten a complete beat change, and we didn't. Overall, it's settled with bass guitar and synth to match the amount of drums going on here.
Kyungmin and Shinyu are so recognizable vocally because they're at opposite ends of the vocal spectrum. It's just kind of funny. We don't really get any of the three things that I look for here, again disappointing. It's pleasant, but there's no showing off here in any direction.
This is such a silly little music video. That's cute. It's very cute. There's a lot of very smooth choreography to accompany the cute, silliness. But you know who I didn't see a lot of? Hanjin.
