Song Review:: Moon Jong Up (B.A.P): Peter- TWIST YA

  •  Release date: 2024 October 31
  • Album tracklist: Room, Feel Me, Love BomberTWIST YA, Muazigyoung, Different Night (feat. GODOK, Ken), Peter Fan
  • Album runtime: 20 minutes

This is the second oldest of the B groups to have a song released today, though the youngest member out of the members of the various groups participating in the releases, and the second soloist of the bunch. AKA, Moon is two years younger than Peniel, who is the youngest member of BTOB that also dropped a single today. Too bad Baekho of NU'EST couldn't have dropped something today too, as well as someone from EXO. We could have had a major 2012 reunion. Ah, well. It's probably for the best. This way, things are still weirdly balanced in the tripod of BIGBANG, BAP, and BTOB.

I'm deeply disappointed by that runtime. What is this nonsense.

We're getting some major futuristic vibes with the synthwave instrumentals here, and the way they build and layer on each other gives it a very eerie feeling. I'm especially a huge fan of the lower bass, especially once the science fiction warbling kicks in. It's a very grounding element that provides lovely contrast. This song has very neon cyberbunk vibes, very old school Tron. If this song was a color, it would be black shot through with a vibrant blue.

The layering of autotune at the beginning caught me off guard, but it also matches the instrumentals in this part remarkably well. I think it might stay throughout the song a little, but it eases up at one point so that it lightly flavors the song, rather than being a noticeable note, only to return. The "twist ya, twist ya" part is catchy and sleek. The only actual problem I have with the song is that it stays in a very specific melodic band and lacks a truly gut-punching killing part. I really would have liked more variation, in melody, in volume, in something. But the song really is pleasant enough as it is, and it very well suits him.

I cannot get over seeing him blond. It's fine. I can handle this. Okay, and this is also a seducing song. So that's fun.

I wish you all could see the text messages I sent to my Stay friend. I think you'd all get a kick out of the screeching I did over this music video. Ignoring the clothing elements (the booty shorts, the exposed shoulders, the unbuttoned shirt) and also the amount of smouldering that man was doing, the storyline was actually really interesting, what little of it I could pay attention to when he is looking like that. The cybernetic enhancements that kept being added onto his arm did the best job of reminding me to pay attention to the story, because that was very interesting. The phone call when it started glowing? Very cool, and very intriguing. I'm also impressed with the level of difficulty in the dancing as well. I'm a little worried about his ability to sing live because of it, although he's a twelve-year idol. I'm sure he can handle it.
